Hanco Ink Modifiers

Hanco Ink is a fully equipped manufacturer of printing inks dedicated to producing only the finest printmaking inks and pressroom supplies.

Hanco's highly skilled master formulators use high-quality raw materials and modern equipment to produce Hanco Ink Modifiers, which are used to stiffen inks and slow the drying process.

French Chalk — Used commonly in lithography to dust the image area of a plate prior to etching, French Chalk is made from the finest, soft, white talcum powder to ensure the best results.

Litho Varnish — This is a commonly used ink modifier produced by heating linseed oil to create a variety of viscosities ranging from the thin-bodied #00 varnish to a heavier-bodied #7 varnish. Use it to increase the body of an ink when using a stiffer varnish or to soften an ink when using thinner-bodied varnishes.

Magnesium Carbonate — This white powder is commonly used to stiffen and/or shorten the body of an ink. Mix it directly into any ink as needed.

Setswell — This versatile additive slows the drying process, which helps keep ink layers open and able to accept and trap subsequent inks being printed. Setswell is also commonly used to reduce the tack and body of an ink.

Hanco Ink is a trademark.
