You'll love the way pastels and charcoal look when stroked on a soft, velour surface. The colors adhere naturally to the velvety surface, but it is recommended that spray fixative be used often.
Hahnemühle applies velour generously and consistently to a smooth acid-free paper. Individual sheets are approximately 19" × 27" (48 cm × 69 cm). 260 gsm.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Comments about Hahnemühle Hahnemühle Premium Velour Paper:
I do a lot of animals, and this paper is great for holding multiple layers and being able to add final details. Because it is so soft, it can hold indentations that you may need to fix or work around.

Kids loved working with it!

I teach art at a homeschool co-op. This was our first time using velour paper. The kids really enjoyed using this paper for their oil pastel's project. I like using a variety of media throughout the year. I am so glad we gave this paper a try. It does, however, pick up finger prints very easily. I had to remind the children several time to wipe their fingers. It was perfect for our snowy, landscape scene.

I can always rely on Dick Blick for a great high quality product, at a great price!! Thanks Dick Blick!
I love, love, love, the Hahnemuhle premium Velour Paper.
I use the velour paper for all my pastel artwork. I do mainly portraits but use the paper for animal artwork and landscape. For me, the pastels seem to glide over the paper and gives great coverage.
Great for pastels
Comments about Hahnemühle Premium Velour Pads:
Pastels go on easily and stay on better.

I recently discovered Velour paper for pastels. These lovely sheets are sturdy. Large enough for a variety of sized paintings. The velour holds many layers of dry pastels, and can be completely covered if the artist desires. I love that Blick allows you to mix and match to get the ten sheets for a discount. The pastels go on the paper with a velvety appearance. Love this paper!!

Great for details in pastel.

I love velour paper. It takes many layers without fixative. One drawback is that mistakes are not easily correctable thus one has to plan drawing accordingly. I do wish there were more art stores that offered this (type) of paper.
Premium is the word

I've bought several types papers for pastel work in the past years..only Hahnemuhle gives me the blending and pastel color control I desire for pet portrait pictures. When doing pet portraits I seek to portray the look and "feel" of the pet's fur, and clarity of that particular pet's eyes. This velour is the only one that has given me the surface to accomplish that image. In all the purchases, only one sheet failed to meet the "premium" standard.

I absolutely love this suede
from South Carolina
I am using this for Pastels and also for colored pencil. I can do a piece on this in CP and you almost cannot tell it's not pastels. I like to use both but I can get a bit more detail with CP than Pastels for special stuff.I bought several pieces of this and cut it where I can get special sizes and still have a piece for "trying things out on" next to my piece that I'm working on.The suede is very short dense and accepts softer pencils like Derwent colorsoft, prismacolor or irojiten the prisma verithin is a bit hard for this though. I've used Lyra Polycolors successfully as well.
