Grumbacher's signature line of professional oil and acrylic brushes. Made of Chungking hog bristle, natural flags and interlocked construction preserve the natural curve of the bristle.

Each Gainsborough brush has a nickel ferrule and a long wooden handle, and is handmade to ensure a high level of quality.

Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer.

I used Gainsborough's many years ago also, but the ones made in India are not even to be compared with The Old US made ones which I still have...the same goes for The Degas Filberts also...when manufacturing went to India the QC went with it. WHat I cannot figure is that Prismacolor also took their Premier line there but still put out a superior product. they discontinued those sadly....

As a beginner in oils, I wanted the variety of brushes my teacher recommended, but I was still unsure about whether I'd stick with oil painting. The Grumbacher brushes from Blick were a affordable choice, and I'm going to stick with painting.

If this product was ever great, it's fallen a long way. I purchased 4 of these brushes based on the stellar reviews and the amazing price. I regret not using that money to invest in one decent brush like the 2 Escoda Teijin brushes I purchased in the same order.

The flat, round, and filbert immediately lost their shape and left hairs in my acrylic paint. The point of a flat brush is to be able to make crisp, precise edges. I could not have done so to save my life, with the flat I bought. After rinsing the brushes and trying to reshape them, more bristles came out. I realized it was a lost cause.

Maybe this line of brushes was once of great quality as other reviews vouch for, but that just isn't true anymore.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

the flats and brights were great right from the door
fan lost shape after first use but after reshaping 2 times it now holds its shape
filbert was miss shaped from the door because of sizeing from factory but after reshaping it also now holds its shape
hair is very very good
if it wasn't for me having to reshape the fan and filbert i would have given 5*
the flat and bright are awsome i really love them

I ordered 11 brushes, after reading four 5* reviews. They looked perfectly pointed.I washed 3 to remove glue, there was no shape left. They looked like brooms.Little bristles fall in the paint. I gave up in one hour. Sorry
