Smells awful, works great

I've only used mine for inks but it works really well, remember to spray somewhere with lots of ventilation

Great product at a good value

I used this product on a pastel drawing and it worked really well. It actually brought out the colors more and sealed the work well.

I use this product to fix my mixed media portraits (charcoal, watercolor, colored pencil, and pastels). It is the only one I have found that doesn't kill the colors or fade the charcoal. I'm done trying other brands - this is it for me.

This is the second time I have purchased this product and have not had any problems with clogging spray hole, or dripping. It has worked like a charm for me.

I wouldn't usually write a review, but I was really disappointed this time. I'm making work that all needs to be the same finish and after using Blick and Prismacolor fixes I figured all fixatives were created equal. This was the only one available elsewhere (not bought on Blick) so I picked it up, needing something immediately. It created a slight texture and sheen, not matte at all. Nor was it smooth like the other two I had used. I'm sure it works just fine if you don't need piece after piece to look exactly the same, and it does create a great protective barrier (I don't want to be all negative). If you want true matte though, this is not the way to go.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Do not use this product on soft pastels
By Rose Leduc
from Berkeley, CA
I used Grumbacher final fixative on several pastels; the results were terrible and uneven. While some pastels were substantially darkened, others became translucent in places, as if some of the pastel pigment had been "eaten" away by the chemicals. I was stunned as I hadn't had a problem with a fixative before; about 8 pieces were ruined. I can see why they have a disclaimer on the can; they might as well say: use of this product will ruin your artwork.
Fogs very easily, WILL RUIN YOUR PIECE
I have used this product twice, both times because it was the only fixative available, and BOTH times it left a fog over my piece. I am not overspraying or using it too heavily; literally EVERY OTHER fixative I've used in a similar manner has not had this problem. I thought it was just a fluke the first time, but no, it's this product. DO NOT BUY THIS if you don't want your hard work to be ruined. Also, the label specifically states that the manufacturer makes no claim of efficacy and takes no responsibility for what happens to your piece. Each time I've used this product, I used it as directed on pencil work which it was intended for. It is awful. Go with prismacolor or literally ANY OTHER brand of fixative.
Works on my graphite
from Nampa Idaho
I have tried several fixatives on my graphite drawings and find this one to be consistently good. Has not ruined any and really does preserve and prevent smudges after application. If the art is very dark (4B upwards) it will take a couple sprayings.

jury is still out
By rustic girlie girl
from Connellsville PA
This really darkened my pastel and I did follow all the instructions which were not on the can but had to find on the website. This was in a way not practical. I don't know if it was still user error and may test on some other items that are of no value and experiment. I hope that this has not caused me to loose first place and the monetary value. Also was working on getting a professional to take a picture of it as many wanted the option of having prints in various sizes. Not sure I have time to go back through and lighten it again.
