These brushes contain seven different professional-grade mixed synthetic filaments with natural flagged tips and interlocked construction. The filaments are fastened into seamless, rustproof nickel-plated brass ferrules and long, stained woodgrain handles to create these versatile brushes.

Degas brushes are stiff enough to push heavy-body acrylics and oil, yet supple enough for the most delicate glazes.

Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer.

Grumbacher brushes are the best in my opinion though there are other top flight ones out there. After 50 years of use, my original Grumbacher red sables still hold a fine point and have the same spring and snap they had when I bought them from Paul Heath at the local Sherwin-Williams store in 1960. Brushes are a significant investment but taken care of, they will give a lifetime of service. As Paul did in his store, I've been storing my brushes in shallow tray drawers with a few moth balls.
