For all of its usefulness, acetate does cause a few headaches — ink that won't stay, a yellow or grayish cast to old acetate, edges that curl. The alternatives are expensive and sometimes just don't suit the purpose.
Dura-Lar is the acetate alternative. It combines the best features of Mylar® and acetate, and offers a variety of products so that you can purchase the film that suits your needs precisely. It is always consistent in color and overall clarity, and won't discolor with age.
Dura-Lar is archival quality, safe for overlaying artwork, and it lays flat. It will remain dimensionally stable for as long as you need.
Designed for layouts, color separations, protective covering, or overhead transparencies. It's available in individual sheets (larger sizes), in pads of 25 sheets (smaller sizes), and in rolls of varying lengths and widths.
Note — The .015" thick and .020" thick sizes are provided with a protective masking on both sizes. This must be removed before using.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Perfect for my application
Comments about Grafix Dura-Lar Clear Acetate Alternative:
I use Dura-Lar to protect large negatives during carbon printing exposures. I have yet to find a blemish or speck of dust on the hundreds of pieces I have used. You also get a piece of interleaving tissue with each sheet. Great material.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

High quality acetate sheets
from Dayton, OH
I use these clear acrylic sheets for my business as an artist and teacher. I print a one inch grid on them to use for enlarging photos. They're packaged with templates and instructions for me to sell.Other acrylic sheets did not withstand the heat and pressure of our HP printer, and the sheets buckled and warped during printing. The Duralar Acetate Alternative does hold up perfectly in the printing process and is sturdy and lies flat afterward.I highly recomment this product!

Product wAs better than I thought it may be, but salesperson was very informative. He was right, now I can make my stencils. This company is more helpful than the company I bought my machine from.

Bought the 100 yard roll and the price was fantastic, especially when compared to the smaller rolls.
My art kids favorite project!
from Alta Loma, CA
Using the dura-lar film was by far my art club kids most favorite project! I used Blick's art lesson plan (on the website) to show the kids how to create a really cool bookmark using alcohol-based pens, the dura-lar, mirror board, and hand sanitizer. They created some amazing artwork! I am going to use the film to do another project for certain.

Best Film Ever!
I love this Graphix Dura-Lar film. The thickness is perfect for my projects. I cut stencils with this film, and have never had one rip or bleed when painting. This is a solid product and is the best I've seen.
special use, not what it is meant for
from Boaton, MA
I have a large printer that refuses to print on anything but materials supplied by its own company. After learning to bypass the computerized detector I experimented with other materials and managed to ruin the printheads. I found that Dura-Lar was perfect for my purposes (after spraying shellac on it)

Copics are expensive, no question. Blicks had the largest in store selection and one of the only store that carry the refills in the store. If I can't find it in the store I can always hop on line and find anything I'm looking for. There's a hobby store by my house that sells copics, but I'd rather drive an extra 15 minutes to blicks since they have better prices, bigger selection and the staff is amazing

I use this for Screen Printing, you can directly draw on the transparent surface with black ink.
