Welcome to dickblick
First created on a custom basis for artists requesting a pigment-saturated, low-viscosity acrylic paint, Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics require no thinning with water or mediums to achieve a wide variety of effects.
Ideal for pouring, puddling, and dripping, Matte Fluid Acrylics can also be used as an alternative to watercolors for staining, and for spray application.
For optimal tinting strength and coverage in an undiluted acrylic paint, Golden's Matte Fluid Acrylics are an excellent choice.

Great matte color
from Lynchburg VA
I use this as a background color in large non-representational acrylics. It is the best. The vinyl paints don't coordinate as well with the other acrylic colors in my opinion. It's expensive but worth it. Get lots of whote if you are going to mix colors

love the golden matte
the only paints I need
Not too heavily opaque
from Central Virginia
This is a somewhat translucent white, as compared with titanium. This quality becomes more pronounced with addition of matt-medium.
Matte Black of my Dreams
from Minneapolis, MN
I am greatly pleased with this matte carbon black - I just wish it were available in brick-and-mortar stores. The struggle of having to choose between matte finish and high opacity in black paint is over! This is slightly more viscous than the other Golden fluid acrylics - if fluid is 1 and heavy body is 5, this is a 2, similar in consistency to fabric paints or cheap ketchup. Naturally, the jet blackness of carbon black takes a slight ding to get the matte finish, but this is really the best combination of opaqueness and matte finish you'll find. I really wish Golden would make matte carbon black as part of their main heavy body and fluid acrylic lines, but am ecstatic that it exists at all.
Great for toning
from Los Angeles, CA
I use it for toning panels and canvases. Nice that it is already thin. I use the earth colors.
Abstract acrylic paintings. These are very intensely colored, thick paints. A little goes a long way. And the coverage is the best
I love the fact that it is a matte acrylic. when it's dry it looks like velvet. The colours are great. Great advantage, it doesn't dry that quick as the heavy body matte acrylics. Disadvantage, there are not that much colours to chose as the heavy body matte acrylics and I really miss the quinacridone nickel azo gold.
Great Brand for Great Results
from Oakland, CA
There's a reason Golden acrylics are so popular. While they cost a bit more, you can count on great pigment and great fluidity.
My favorite paint
By T E
from Bay Area, CA
These are not quite as fluid as Golden's regular fluid acrylics, but similar. Nice matte finish. I supplement the color pallete with fluid acrylics. I also use a lot of golden glazing liquid with these for even transparent glazes and longer working time. They come in great bottles. Expensive but I use paint very conservatively. Highly recommend.
