Golden's original line of acrylic paint is known for its exceptionally smooth, thick consistency, and for its excellent permanency and lightfastness. Golden Heavy Body Acrylic Colors (with the exception of a few balanced primaries and blended colors) are composed from pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion vehicle, using no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners, or dyes.
Each color is formulated differently, depending on the nature of the pigment. Colors that tolerate higher pigment "loads" dry to a more opaque, matte finish, while colors that are more reactive and do not accept high pigment loading dry to a glossy, more transparent finish. A hand-painted color chart is available on request.
Multiple Sizes Available — Golden Heavy Body Artist Acrylics are also available in 4 oz, 5 oz, 8 oz, 16 oz, 32 oz, and 128 oz.
Gift Idea — Students and professionals at all levels appreciate Golden Heavy Body Artist Acrylics. A variety of introductory and gift sets are available. See Golden Heavy Body Artist Acrylic Sets for pictures and more detailed specifications of these sets.
Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
Warning — Some colors contain pigments, such as cadmium salts, that are toxic, and should be used only by persons who are old enough to follow instructions for safe use and clean-up. Cautionary labels and warnings should be followed strictly. Do not apply toxic colors with an airbrush or sprayer.

Caution — Golden's cadmium-based pigments carry the Art and Creative Materials Institute's Caution Label. They are Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red Dark, Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Dark, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Yellow Medium, and Cadmium Yellow Primrose. All other Golden Heavy Body Acrylic colors are rated AP Non-Toxic.
Interference Colors — These colors, derived from aluminum silicate (mica) and titanium dioxide, refract and reflect light through multiple layers to produce pearlescent effects. They are highly transparent. Pearlescent effects cannot be reproduced with a computer monitor.
Iridescent Colors — These colors, derived from aluminum silicate, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and oxidized metallic particles, are reflective and opaque. They produce shimmering metallic effects. Unlike actual metals, they are highly stable and will not change over time. Iridescent and metallic effects cannot be reproduced with a computer monitor.
Hues and Blended Colors — Several "hue" colors are available as less expensive (and non-toxic) substitutes for more expensive pure pigment colors using cadmium or cobalt. Other blended colors, designated "light" or "medium," are tints of pure pigments and Titanium White, provided purely as a convenience to the artist.
Neutral Grays — Golden's neutral grays are a series of achromatic grays that follow the Munsell Value Scale, which ranges from black to white through a series of balanced grays. They allow an artist to adjust the value and chroma of a color without altering its hue. Bone Black is recommended for the neutral black (N1) and Titanium White for the neutral white (N10). Golden's neutral grays can be reproduced by blending Bone Black and Titanium White.
