Golden Polymer Varnish with UVLS (UltraViolet Light Stabilizers) is a waterborne acrylic polymer varnish that dries to a protective, flexible, dust-resistant surface. Use it as a final sealant over acrylic paint.
Polymer Varnishes must be thinned before use. They have been formulated thicker than traditional varnishes, to maintain an even suspension of matting agents. This ensures more consistency in surface reflectance.
Varnishes are available in a highly reflective Gloss, and an exceptionally flat Matte. The matte varnish will lighten dark value colors.
This varnish is removable with ammonia for restoration purposes. For interior use only.

Comments about Golden Acrylic Polymer Varnishes:
Golden varnish leaves my artwork looking professional, it is easy to prepare for spray application and it flows beautifully out of my mini spray gun. A must have for any intermediate or advanced level artist.

The best varnish there is

No other varnish works quite like Golden. The matte is truly matte. Other matte varnishes still get a shine to them, and that drives me insane.
Why have I waited so long to try this?!!

Am using the gloss varnish on mixed media paintings done on rough, reclaimed wood. WOW! It works beautifully and it's shiiiiny! Dries quickly, looks great, and is removable. But truly, READ THE DIRECTIONS. For me, this varnish is not as touchy as the directions make it out to be, but it does take a little practice. Love, love, love the results! Wish I'd tried it sooner, but hey! I'll be using it for the rest of my born days. :) And Blick has the best price!

Varnish acrylic canvas paintings great uniform mat. Finish

I used this satin varnish to seal a watercolor painting done on Aquabord, following Aquabord's instructions. I thinned the varnish by 25% and applied 5 coats to the board that had been sealed using a Krylon spray varnish first (two coats). I allowed at least one hour between coats. Some brushstrokes are apparent in the finish, although not distracting, and a few errant small dust particles got trapped in. For my first time using this, I was pleased and the overall finish and satin surface worked out nicely. Colors stayed vibrant, no milky areas, and the product is easy to use.

I buy this product on a regular basis.

I always use the Goldn Polymer Varnish with UVLS (satin) to finish all my commissioned acrylic paintings.I follow the traditional recipe offered by the Golden Co. for this specific purpose and I get excellent results every time. For conservation purposes, this method of varnishing gives the option of cleaning an acrylic painting, if necessary, without the fear of disturbing the actual layer(s) of paint.I use this product because works the best for my purpose. My clients are sure they get their paintings done all in professional, archival quality material, from the substrate, to the first layer of paint, to the last layer of varnish. This product arrived from Dick Blick in excellent condition, very well wrapped and in a timely manner. Thank you Dick Blick for your customer care!
Exactly what I needed, excellent price

When I painted a 46 foot mural with Golden Acrylic paints, I made the commitment to use high quality materials for the whole project. I went to the local shop for the Golden varnish once it was completed, and I was pretty shocked at the price. But Dick Blick had the same great product, and in more sizes too! So I not only got a better price, but was able to drop my cost even further by buying in bulk. Thanks!

For my acrylic paintings nothing is better. I personally love the Flat version. It brings everything together in my paintings to give them a unified look with virtually no glare or reflections allowing them to be viewed as the were intended. Super easy to use. I mix it in the 4 to 1 ratio (4 varnish 1 water) and put it in a squeeze bottle. This enables me to simply pour it on my paintings (which I lay flat) and then simply brush it out with a large house painting brush. 2 coats is usually all I need for an amazing finish to my art.Sincerely Michael James

If you work in a material that smears, I recommend using this spray varnish.
