I use Absorbent Ground 25% diluted, 3-4 coats, totally dry and lightly sanded between coats over gessoed cansas for my pen/ink/ water color pantings.
I spray the finshed work very lightly with a clear laquer-I sell 6x6 and 12x 12 at a market on the Big Island, Hi. No mat, glass or framing!

I love this stuff. After 1 or 2 coats of regular gesso, I apply the absorbent ground. Depending on how absorbent I want the ground to be, I add more coats for more absorbency. I use it for acrylic washes--I thin acrylics down so that I can paint washes on canvas or board and it looks a lot like watercolour on paper. It's fun to play with, to see what it'll do in different situations. I then like to use my oil paints over the acrylic. I hope they never stop making this!

I use absorbent ground for all my silk dye work. I have dyed canvas, gourds and even glass. Absorbent ground, when used on top of 2 coats of gesso, creates a surface that allows silk dyes and even transparent ink dyes to spread and create a tye-dye look. When used with Jacquard Silk Dyes and Silk Salt, it creates stunning art. I have bought this product along with silk dyes and salt from Dick Blick several times and have not been disappointed. I will buy again soon.
