ONE OF THE BEST PENCILS!!!
from Yadkinville, NC
Comments about General's Sketch & Wash Pencil:
I recently brought one of these pencils, because my old one was running out! I love this pencil SO MUCH!!!- Lead is extremely soft and smooths over the paper beautifully!- I use this pencils by dipping it in water, which gives a really DARK pigment! (I used this pencil to add shadows to nature, like trees, water, rocks, mountains, etc.)- Without water, it still works really good (I just prefer dipping it into water.) :)- I use this pencil and mix it with graphite (sometimes charcoal) which can create different shades! (I REALLY LOVE THIS PENCIL!!!)- I wish I could meet whoever invented this pencils and give them a big thanks!MY FAVORITE PENCIL EVER!!!!! :D
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

All time favorite!
I have purchase these pencils at other places and the prices are a bit higher in compare to this company. I love this pencil & have used them for years, goes on smoothly and great with a dab of wet brushing to give my sketches that shadowing effects. I have always been a lover of this brand of Generals Sketch and Wash and refuse at buying other brands.

THE BEST PENCIL FOR EMBROIDERERS!!
from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa
I use it for tracing embroidery patterns, which have to completely wash out afterwards. This is the only pencil which does this.Unfortunately the dealer from whom I have bought, no longer supplies - is there anywhere in South Africa where I can get one??

Best tool in my pack for field sketching
By sketch girl
from Kill Devil Hills, NC
I do a lot of field sketching and have looked for one tool to do it all. This is it. A nice soft lead that is quick to sharpen and doesn't crumble or break easily. It's like magic when water is added, creating gorgeous washes. They also work well with a wash of watercolor if desired. And once wet, no need to worry about smudging. I will buy these by the dozen!

Best product for the sewing room.
from Southern California
I use this product to mark my fabric for match points, elastic placement, dart placement, etc. It writes clearly and precisely on all types of fabric and then washes out of my finished garment completely. If you want an even darker or more solid line or dot, just wet the tip of the pencil. Amazing! I'd buy it at 5 times the price, and will stop using all other marking pencils that I've wasted my money on. I wish they made it in a white or yellow as well for darker colored fabric.
I seek the best and perfect pencil for along time and i think it seem great when i catch and put it on white paper,... soft and easy to control line and no more use eraser. ^-^

General's Sketch n Wash pencils are a lot of fun to use. Contrary to the reviewer below, I find these pencils to be just as good as Graphitone and are actually less messy to use and easier to travel with. Plus their price is very reasonable. Sketch n Wash pencils are excellent for taking with you for sketching outdoors or away from home. It's the only pencil I take with me when I go out to do field studies. Makes a very nice medium tone wash when you brush water over the dry pencil lines. I would highly recommend this product.
Ok, but there are better ones
from Bay Area, CA
These were the first water-soluble graphite pencils I bought, and at the time I thought they were ok. Then after I tried a few other brands, particularly the Derwent Graphitone, I realized they're not that good at all. They're nice to sketch with dry, but once you use a wash over them, it's not so good. Go with the Derwent Graphitone instead.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
