When I selected these pencil tip protectors I thought back to ones I had as a kid in art class as a youngster.

Unless all your pencils are the larger size pencils, such as those with the 3.8mm lead, they are useless. With these larger pencils they will do a passable job of protecting the tip. But only if the pencil falls from only a foot or two from the floor. They are not sturdy enough to totally protect the tip of your pencils if they are dropped any higher up.

I keep getting more of these. I use them on standard-sized drawing pencils (many brands), carbon pencils (Wolff), colored pencils (Faber-Castell, Prismacolor, others), pastel pencils (Stabilo Carb-othello), and regular office pencils. They protect the delicate leads and also keep me safe from sharp points and keep pencil pouches and drawing supplies clean. They stay on well but come off easily when desired; they allow clear view of the covered point. The price is a great bargain and the included sharpener is a bonus - I'd get them even without it. I'm so delighted that Blick carries these and recommend them to everyone.

Yes, very thick pencils don't fit these caps (for example, Conte drawing pencils and the thick round Derwent drawing pencils), and it would be helpful if the company came up with an additional size of pencil caps for these thicker pencils. However, they DO work with everything I want them for and I'm very happy to have them. This is an example (not the only one!) of something that is hard to find in general, but is carried by Blick.

I haven't had these for very long so I don't know how long they will last, but so far I really like them. I have some very good colored pencils that I take with my and these will help the tips not break off since they are pretty expensive.

These work great with standard size pencils; however, be aware that they DO NOT fit thicker artist-size pencils, such as charcoal pencils.
