Essential for sketching

Comments about General's Kneaded Eraser:
Kneaded erasers are essential for sketching, especially for lifting dark mediums like charcoal. General's is a trusted brand. They work great.

best eraser to use for subtractive art
A flexible tool for drawing!
By Star the artist

I have used these erasers for about 30 years now. I enjoy the fact that one can use them to erase small as well as large areas. My art students have enjoyed them, too. Although, they aren't a toy, one can pull and twist to help them 'erase' within themselves. A good deal. And, they'll last for a long time.
Nice colors, easy to blend
I have used this mostly for sketching so far. The colors blend together nicely and are very bright. They are also very hard to break.
Not what I have experienced with kneaded rubber erasers in the past. It is crumbly and just breaks apart when I try to knead it. If I try to make a little thin edge, as I have done in the past with my Faber Castel kneaded eraser, the whole thing crumbles. Not usable.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I do a lot of watercolor painting of flowers. I find the kneaded eraser to be invaluable in removing pencil lines of my initial drawing.

Not worth the work
from Oahu, HI
This General's kneaded eraser tears apart about 80% of the time. It is annoying! If I use an edge or side then try folding it into itself so I can continue drawing and erasing, it tears at the fold and does not stretch. With each use, I have to really work the eraser to get it warm enough to become somewhat pliable. On the other hand, my Faber-Castell kneaded eraser is soft and elastic - even when it's cold (if you can get cold in Hawaii). The F-C easily lifts the graphite from my paper. I swiftly stretch out the side used, fold it over on itself and it's happy and ready to lift more graphite. I don't have to stop and make sure the graphic gets work into the eraser, nor do I have to struggle to reintegrate elasticity into my eraser. The General's eraser at times also crumbles into pieces. Most annoying. (FYI: They've both been used about the same amount.)The attached picture has General's eraser in the front compared to Faber-Castell's eraser in the back.

Works perfectly on many surfaces
I bought the eraser to use on Clearprint drafting vellum. It works perfectly on that and it also works to erase pencil lines and graphite paper lines on adhesive vinyl and other surfaces. Being able to mold it to any shape I want is a plus.

I'm using this product in an adult class and have used it in my work for many years. It's the best. Always clean and dependable. Works like a charm. I've even used it to remove marks on painted walls! it also has a side benefit of warming up my hands when I knead it before beginning my work. Eventually, dust and cat hair befall it, but it still works.
