I have used this set in large classes, for one to four people at a table. The selection of colors is very good, and the quality is much better than expected. The colors are well selected. If used on hot press paper or smooth watercolor paper, the colors show up, and work well with a damp brush. This is a good value, and most artists will not notice the difference between these pencils and more costly and intense colors. I have not had any problems with breakage or sharpening. Check the cost and value on these, and try them before investing huge amounts in watercolor pencils. I have used them for six years and hundreds of students.

This is the first time I have used water color pencils and the colors are like fine jewels. The blue is truly topaz and the red/pink is the color of sunset. I use General's graphite, charcoal and carbon basic black pencils as well as General Multichrome and Color-Tex colors as my primary colored pencils so I know General makes quality products but I was a bit awed by the brilliant tones displayed when I added a drop of water..Amazing!

It says on the package of Kimberly watercolor pencils they are "artist quality" and I think that is an accurate claim. They compare quite favorably with artist quality pencils. The colors are very nice and dissolve well in water, laydown is buttery smooth, and also the construction is very good and they sharpen well. Watercolor artists owe it to themselves to try at least one brand of watercolor pencils because they are much easier to control than paint in tubes or pans, they are fast and fun to use, and are great for plein aire. I highly recommend these pencils.

I have used these for both greeting cards and framed art. The quality is as good or better than the "artist quality" brands. I did lightfastness tests myself in a south sunny summer Texas window and all colors (30) were lightfast. I cannot stress how great these pencils are! And they are made in the USA, another bonus! The colors are highly pigmented and perform well both wet and dry. The only possible downside is the fairly low number of colors available, although the color selection is well chosen.
