A retired art teacher, Chuck offers small drawing classes in his studio for adult beginners. "This is the perfect drawing kit for an adult beginner class," he tells us.

"It has all the materials I want to introduce them to, and in one neat package that is easy to hand out at the first class. I keep a few extra boxes of compressed charcoal on hand, and an extra box of kneaded erasers, because they go through those fast.

"General has many fine sets ... this is just one of them. There is one for any class, and the price is always right. It ends up costing me more to hire a model for the last two sessions than it does for all the course materials."

I mainly use this product for portrait work be it human or animal, but I use them in lanscaping and scenery drawing as well. In the past, I have primarily been a Prismacolor Premier customer, but I grew aggravated with the leads of my charcoal pencils breaking constantly while sharpening them. It didn't matter what technique I used. I would always sharpen about two inches off of a Prismacolor pencil before I was able to get it back to a decent point without it breaking. So, I went in search of pencils that wouldn't do this. That's when I decided to try to General Pencil #15 Charcoal Set. I haven't looked back. The pencils lay down the charcoal nicely and blend even better. My only hope is that General Pencil continue to produce this quality. As long as they do, I will continue to be a customer.

I got this set a while ago to do outdoor sketching and figure drawing. it offers everything needed for sketching and even good charcoal drawings in a compact kit. I would recommend it to anyone!

I first purchased this set when I made my first foray into drawing with something other than graphite pencils. I was very pleased with the quality of the materials. I have since bought several other kits--I keep one at home and one in the office (lunch hour sketching) and always have one on hand to give as a gift to aspiring artists. General's products have never disappointed me!
