"The Tools of Contemporary Masters"
Since 1980, Gamblin has handcrafted luscious oil colors and contemporary painting mediums that are true to historic working properties, yet safer and more permanent. All of Gamblin's oil painting materials are handcrafted at the company's wind-powered factory in Portland, Oregon. These are mediums you can trust for permanence and studio safety — from the industry leader.
Cold Pressed Linseed Oil
Pressed from flax seeds in Canada without using heat or chemicals of any kind. However, when used to thin oil colors, it increases the tendency to yellow over time.
Cold Wax Medium
A soft paste formulated to knife consistency, Gamblin Cold Wax Medium is made from naturally white unbleached beeswax, alkyd resin, and odorless mineral spirits (OMS), and is used to make oil colors thicker and more matte. It can be thinned to brush consistency by dissolving it in a small amount of OMS. The surface of paintings made with beeswax mediums will become only as hard as a beeswax candle. Adding Gamblin Galkyd to Cold Wax Medium/oil colors mix will increase the sheen and flexibility of the paint film. Use a small amount to make Galkyd Mediums more matte. Cold Wax Medium contains no oil, so it can be applied as a wax varnish over a dry oil painting.
Cold Wax Medium
A soft paste that makes oil colors thicker and more matte. Formulated to knife consistency, it’s made from naturally white unbleached beeswax, alkyd resin, and odorless mineral spirits, and can be thinned to brush consistency. It can also be used as a final varnish.
A very transparent, lightweight gelled alkyd resin formulated for transparent impasto of up to 1/4” thick. It holds marks and brush strokes, can be applied in multiple layers and does not dry as quickly as most gel mediums.
Formulated to thin oil colors and maintain strong flexible paint films, with a viscosity similar to that of a traditional dammar/refined linseed oil/turpentine painting medium. It will leave brush strokes in thicker layers and allow a longer working time (approximately three hours). Glazes are slightly less glossy than those made with traditional mediums or Galkyd.
Galkyd Medium #1
An alkyd resin painting medium that increases the fluidity of oil colors and speeds their drying time (thin layers will dry within 24 hours). Its viscosity is similar to traditional painting mediums made from linseed stand oil. It levels brush strokes, creates a strong flexible paint film, and leaves an enamel-like glossy finish.
Galkyd Slow Drying
Formulated for strength and flexibility, and to keep the surface of oil paintings open for approximately three days — a good choice for painters who blend or work wet into wet.
Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits
An excellent solvent for thinning Gamblin mediums, for general painting, and for studio and brush cleanup. It evaporates completely, leaving no residue, and the absence of the aromatic solvent component means painters can work with Gamsol five times longer than turpentine without adverse health effects.
This set includes 2 oz bottles of Galkyd, Neo Meglip, Refined Linseed Oil, Gamsol, a 37 ml tube of Galkyd Gel, and a 2 ml jar of Cold Wax Medium.
Soft, silky gel that gives body to paint, decreases viscosity, and can produce a luminous atmosphere. Base of alkyd resin, without toxic lead or other materials. Will not turn yellow or darken.
Slows down drying time. Especially useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Add 10% by volume to slow down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd painting mediums. 8 oz (237 ml) bottle.
Refined Linseed Oil
Pressed from American flax seeds, this low acid oil is about as light and pure as it gets. Use in moderation to thin oil colors, or use as an ingredient in traditional painting mediums.
Gamblin Safflower Oil is lighter in color than linseed oil, non-yellowing, and slow-drying. It is an excellent medium for passages of white and other light colors, making them sparkle and pop. Safflower oil also makes an excellent solvent-free brush cleaner during painting sessions (afterwards artists can clean brushes further with Gamsol or soap and water).
Solvent Free Fluid Medium
Solvent-Free Fluid Medium gives oil paints a more fluid consistency and moderately speeds drying time.
Solvent-Free Gel Medium
Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel gives colors more gloss, flow, and transparency, yet holds the shape of brushstrokes. It has a moderately fast drying rate.
Heavy oil that wets pigments well. 8 oz (237 ml).
These small beads of naturally white unbleached beeswax can be used in making your own wax medium.

Great mineral spirits!
Comments about Gamblin Oil Mediums:
I'm in art school and my teacher required that we have Gamblin Gamsol mineral spirits to use in class because it is truly odorless and guess what - it really is totally odorless! So when we paint we have a small container on our palette and use it as a thinner. Then when we're done painting, we wipe our brushes in a rag, swish them a little in the Gamsol, clean them with some kind of oily soap and water, and we're done. Works great!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I chose this particular Stand Oil, out of the many many options, because it was made by the same company that I got my oil paints from. I have to say that I believe I made a good choice. The Gamblin Stand Oil has been mixing very well the the Gamblin 1980 Oil Paints I purchased. It has also been mixing will with the paint thinner I use. All in all I am very happy with my purchase.
from Greater Minnesota
Good product. Slightly less thick and more fluid than other stand oil's I've tried. Really good product by a solid company and an outstanding value.
Gamsol, thinner without the usual accompanying head headache

Best oil pant thinner I've yet found, best of all it has no detectable odor or fumes and thus easy on your sinuses
Great product shipped fast!
I've been using this for years and love how fast it dries the oil paint and the glossy look. It allows me to work on a painting 2 days in a row which is very helpful!

Using it to clean older oil paintings. No fumes, so can be used indoors. Cleaning paintings without damaging them, or yellowing. Love the product!

All Gamblin mediums are of very good quality
Just what I needed!
from The U.P. of Michigan
I don't use this for art but am a beekeeper who makes bee'-friendly nontoxic Ed finish for out door furniture and hives. It is impossible to find raw linseed oil in the big box stores or even small local hardware stores. This cold-pressed oil is clear, mixed well with warmed beeswax, and looks terrific applied to the wood. I'll be buying more.
A true odorless mineral spirit

In a world of odorless paint thinners that stink, this odorless mineral spirit does what it says, thins oil paint and cleans brushes with no fumes whatsoever
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
