Comments about Gamblin Neo-Megilp:
This stuff is amazing. Incredibly versatile, I use it as a medium for glazes and for giving paint a desirable body, but also as a component in a specialty paint that I formulate myself using neo-megilp, pigments, linseed oil, a drop of liquin, and copious amounts of alkyd resin and this stuff was the ingredient that really made it work like I had envisioned. This stuff is magical and glazing with it will add wonderful light and glow to your pieces. #sweepstakes

Great medium. I wish it came in a tube.
from HAyden Lake, Idaho
Just back from a plein air workshop where instructor Roger Dale Brown supplied samples of Gamblin Neomegilp. I liked it a lot! Roger and I both liked to squeeze out a blob onto the palette. It lasts all day without drying out, yet the painting dries pretty well overnight. It's just a little difficult to get it out of the plastic bottle when the level runs low. I told Roge I wished it came in a tube and he said so did he! It reminds me somewhat of Liquin Impasto gel which comes in a tube, but without the strong odor. It's nice and I am ordering some more.

New material, old world results
from Manhattan, NYC
This product created to be less toxic than its original counterpart meroger works exceptionally well. The techniques made available to you by this product replicate the original with less hazard. This product performs above and beyond with its golden goodness.Glad its part of my paint box.
Make interesting brush marks.

I use this product as a medium with oil paints. It gives me what I have always wanted in an oil painting and that is a thicker brush stroke and some sheen. It shows the brush strokes as well.I have no complaints.
I would by this product again and again

LOW ODOR AND USEFUL
from Portland, Or
I use this for glazing mainly. the only thing I don't like is that it tends to get a bit gummy and lift if you go over it a second time if the first coat isn't completely dry, but think this is common with glazing technique. I used to use Galkyd, also by Gamblin, but the smell seemed more toxic to me and also the Galkyd tended to dry up in the bottle. The Megilp is a lot better in that respect. It beats commercial Maroger in price by far.

You can Dilute with a little Turpenoid
By Retired Senior Art Student
from Oldsmar, FL
Unlike Liquin, Neo-Megilp stays workable and sticky for a couple of days. It produces a nice glowing shine to oil paintings in progress, especially portraits. An 8 oz bottle goes a long way, especially when applied by diluting with a little Turpenoid (blue can.) Just work it into a thoroughly dry canvas after the first layer of paint is laid down. Then continue adding color, working it into the Neo-Megilp. As with all Gamblin products (I use their oil paints), I feel confident that this medium is safe and effective.
