Gamblin Artist's Oil Colors are crafted by hand with the well-being of artists, their work, and the environment in mind. True to historic working properties, yet safer and more permanent, they combine the best traditions of the past with the latest technical innovations, giving you the freedom to create without compromise.
Made with the finest grades of pigment available (yes, there are differences), Gamblin Artist's Oils have luscious working properties, and each color possesses unique characteristics in terms of texture, undertone, and tinting strength. The range of colors includes both historically accurate paints and modern, synthetically derived hues. For everything from traditional realism to contemporary abstraction, you'll find your ideal colors within the Gamblin line.
All Gamblin Artist's Oil Paints are completely non-toxic when used as recommended. Most are made with alkali-refined linseed oil as a binder, which creates a strong, flexible paint film and yellows significantly less than cold press linseed oil, the traditional binder in oil paints. Select colors use safflower oil as a binder. Not only are both these vegetable oils completely non-toxic, they are commonly used in health and beauty products, so you can trust in their safety.
Deluxe Oil Painting Set
Robert Gamblin has selected an array of 12 colors to establish a beginner's palette and placed them in a finely made pine sketch box. The set contains the following materials:
This set gives painters a thoughtfully constructed palette of luscious oil colors cradled in a primed, ready-to-use, 12" × 6½" painting panel handcrafted in North America from sustainably forested birch. Colors include Cadmium Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Viridian, Ivory Black, and Titanium White in 37 ml (1.25 oz) tubes.

Artists can paint solvent—free with all Gamblin Artist’s Colors by mixing them with Gamblin’s Solvent-Free Gel Medium or with moderate amounts of Gamblin Refined Linseed Oil. For cleaning your brushes consider using Gamblin’s Gamsol Solvent, the safest artist’s solvent available. Or, simply wipe away excess paint from the bristles, work in a bit of Gamblin Refined Linseed Oil, then follow with water and soap or a brush cleaner.

I love this paint!
By Studio Paper+
from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
After 30 years of painting, I gave my artist grade paints to the artist down the hall and purchased all Gamblin paints, mediums, and grounds. While there is a small learning curve with working with these highly pigmented paints, the opacity and smoothness is unbelievable fun and easy. I will not work with lesser grade paint again. I would write more, but I want to go paint some more.

Gamblin Oils and Gamblin Transparent Oils
By PJ the artist
from Dallas, TX
I depend upon Gamblin transparent oils to add the depth and light to my paintings and they come through like a champ! Adding transparent first under the opaque paints will brighten and give you the added light to your painting like nothing else will. The Gamblin line of transparents are loaded with pigment and provide the base I need to complete a painting

Nice pigment; reasonably priced.
from Chapmansboro, TN
Gamblin makes a very good oil paint. The pigment is very nice and the price is reasonable. They do not last as long on my palette as another brand that I use, but they have a great range of colors to choose from.

Simply The Best Oil Paint
from Charleston, SC
All Gamblin products are crafted with care and made to the highest quality. The only drawback to this line of oil paint is that the consistency is sometimes variable, resulting in some of the oil separating from the pigment. But the hassle in dealing with this deficiency is far outweighed by the quality of the pigment against the cost of the other oil paint lines.
Would buy again and again

Gamblin Oil Colors Rock!
By Danielle Frederick The Artist!
from New York
I tried Gamblin through the advice of a fellow Artist & fell in Love! I love the fact Gamblin Oils are made here in the U.S. It's a huge plus! I love the colors, sizes of the tubes & the price! Plus there is always a free giveaway of some sort with Blick. I'm a long time customer & fan! What don't I love about it? Well sometimes the neck of the caps break...separating from the top of the cap. This occurred with gentle use. Other then that I've got no complaints!
The Gamblin Company was born in 1980 in a small garage in Portland, Oregon, where Robert Gamblin spent nine months mixing batch after batch of oil paint by hand. See what inspires Robert Gamblin and understand the integrity and dedication behind what makes some of the finest oil products around.
