As an art conservator I make my own paints. These pigments are very smoothly ground and pure-- great to work with!

I am rating this product as such because I don't feel confident in my own knowledge to give it a higher rating. I use these products for many things. Basically I am making my own types of paint by adding them to: mediums, plaster, glue, gesso etc. For many applications it is cheaper than using heavy body paints and its kind of fun to use. Never subject yourself to inhaling art materials of any kind!

Best product ever
I've tried many brands of white dry pigments, but the white from gamblin's is the perfect one for my art work. Beatiful color and quality.
Trust these Pigments
from Washington, DC
I have been using Gamblin dry pigments for some time now and really trust the value they provide. I know when I purchase them the quality of the product will show through and they encourage me to step up my own game. They blend so easily with mediums. So you can find lower priced dry pigments (you can also find higher priced ones), but it is a very good value for the money.

I am an egg tempera artist and like these pigment containers because I can add water before tempering with egg emulsion and the water doesnt evaporate over long periods of time. He needs more colors though...

Transparent Earth Yellow: AWFUL
By Napa Artist
from Napa, CA
I was expecting a transparent ochre yellow but instead the pigment had mixed with it dark brown granules along side the yellow ochre pigment. I can't use this with egg tempera. This is the worst pigment purchase I've ever made.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pigments Used to Weather Scale Models
from Winnsboro, SC
Although you must mix your own colors, these dry pigments are an excellent value and as easy to use as any of the proprietary pre-mixed pigments (MIG or Vallejo, for ex.).The Titanium White seems to get a bit "clumpy" in the jar, perhaps from moisture in the air, but the other colors remain fine and loose. (The white remains usable, just a bit harder to mix than the other colors.)I used Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement as a fixer. A low-cost alternative to the proprietary mixtures. Other fixture methods will also work well with these pigments (Dull Coat for perment fixing or water or mineral spirits for working fixing).

Terrific Pigments !!!!
By Junior Mike
from Bethlehem, PA
I have been using a few selected pigments and absolutely love them. The intensity of the pigments is revealed whether I prepare them with oil, spirits, or use them dry. I highly recommend this particular Gamblin material.
