Since founding Gamblin Artists Colors, Robert Gamblin has wanted artists to be able to paint freely — to use color and texture without hesitation or reservation.
To do this, painters need colors that are true. True to the pigment. True to historic working properties. True to the emotion of each color. Colors that feel right under the brush and that age right on the canvas.
Gamblin 1980 Oil Colors offer artists true color and real value. This line of 48 colors offers artists a better student-grade paint, made here in America at a terrific value, from a company you can believe in.
This set gives beginning painters a thoughtfully constructed palette of luscious Gamblin 1980 Oil Colors to support any style of painting. It includes 37 ml (1.25 oz) tubes of Cadmium Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Green, Ivory Black, Titanium White, and Solvent-Free Gel Medium, plus a primed, handcrafted panel made from sustainably forested North American birch.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

until now, i used the 'classico' oil colors produced from 'maimeri'.using classico, i felt that it has a large amount of linseed oil. because when i push the classico tubes, the linseed oils come out a lot.but gamblin oil color doesn't seem to have lots of linseed. instead, it has large amount of pigment.so, i can control the quantity of linseed oil easily.and the tube from the gamblin is much stronger. so it prevents to leak oil colors out.
Best student grade paint
from Chicago, IL
Great paint for intro painting class
Pretty much what I expected
Gamblin is always a dependable brand - bought this cobalt violet (hue) just to try to color out. The pigment strength is definitely not very strong and you have to use quite a bit when mixing it into other colors. I mainly just wanted to try out the straight color before dropping big dollars on the real cobalt violet. I usually use Gamblin's Artist Oils and the difference is very evident.

My order came very qickly and everything was as ordered. I was surprised and very pleased that included was a small 'Thank You' gift. I am a working artist (sculptor actually) and had deceided to do some painting again after a number of years not paiinting. These paints were recommended by the art teacher as good and yet reasonably priced. I have found them so.
A quality oil paint.

This is a good oil paint, at least the ones I've tried so far. The colors are brilliant.
