This canvas is made with 100% Pure Belgian linen. It is a fine, pure medium weight canvas, with a pronounced texture, for use with oils or acrylics.

The Fredrix Green Label Canvas is acrylic titanium double-primed with acid-free smooth ground. The canvas is stapled onto the back of standard stretcher bars and has a ¾" profile. Paint on all four edges and hang it with or without a frame.

Warped Stretcher Bars

When I put my heart and soul into a painting especially a portrait I want a superior canvas. I thought Fredrix produced a quality canvas. NOT! When I bought the canvas a few months ago I toned and dried it then put it back into the box it was shipped in. I just removed the linen canvas from the box in which it was shipped and properly stored to find that it had warped considerably. Meaning when laid flat on my kitchen island two of the corners were more than an inch off the counter. In the past I have bragged that I like to use Fredrix 'quality' canvas, but now find that in linen it is not the way to go. The stretcher bars are very narrow and allow for the shrinkage of the linen to warp the frame. I really needed to start my painting today but now I will have to wait for another shipment as I live in a rural area and can't just go out and buy one.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The quality of the stretcher bars on the Green Lable are extremely poor and flimsy, causing the canvases to warp unacceptably. The linen isn't too bad and so after purchasing 12 canvases I've had to re-stretch them all onto decent bars.
DO NOT PURCHASE THESE IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST!
Fredrix, who are usually very trustworthy, ought to seriously rethink this product.
