Used the Fredrix linen for an entire gallery show and I was thrilled with the overall quality and loved to paint on it. I was so relieved when I used this canvas. I tried a brand for less money and it did not feel like something I wanted my collectors to have. I was very proud to offer a good canvas that I know will not deteriorate or anything like that. Just my 2 cents.

I just started an oil painting class and using this canvas turned into a very frustrating first painting. The instructor of my class thinks some kind of film is put on this canvas that makes the paint streak. I will never buy this product again.

Well, all I have to say is that I tried about 4 other brands (I'll leave them nameless) and Fredrix was the best. I was very impressed with the detail payed to the stretching, a big pet peeve for me when I buy canvas already stretched. Happy there is still a quality brand out there. I also like the fredrix panels and pads.

I dont know how these other reviewers can be down on this product. I have been using Fredrix canvas for over 20 years and it is simply the best out there. The linen is incredible. I use the stretched as well as their hand primed rolls. All of the galleries that sell my work and all of my collectors have NEVER had a problem with my paintings in terms of the canvas quality.

I can imagine there are always a few duds out there, any product is like that....but if you are worried about quality just stick with FREDRIX. The green label linen is awesome.

For some reason these canvas' seem to lose tension in shipping. One of them so bad that not even that smelly canvas tightener would fix it. This would probably be better to buy in person at a Dick Blick store.

The gesso applied is too thin or too few coats, because if you look from the back of the canvas at a light source, you'll notice hundreds of pin holes in the gesso. According to Frederix they use a clear sizing, so even if holes appear it shouldn't bleed through the gesso holes. Do you want to chance it?

These canvas are made in Mexico.... with poor quality control.

In the past, I've used really expensive pre-primed linen, and linen that I primed myself, but you can't beat Fredrix for the quality and convenience of pre-stretched and pre-primed. I love opening each package and just running my hand over it! Its the best ever and really worth every penny!

When I put my heart and soul into a painting especially a portrait I want a superior canvas. I thought Fredrix produced a quality canvas. NOT! When I bought the canvas a few months ago I toned and dried it then put it back into the box it was shipped in. I just removed the linen canvas from the box in which it was shipped and properly stored to find that it had warped considerably. Meaning when laid flat on my kitchen island two of the corners were more than an inch off the counter. In the past I have bragged that I like to use Fredrix 'quality' canvas, but now find that in linen it is not the way to go. The stretcher bars are very narrow and allow for the shrinkage of the linen to warp the frame. I really needed to start my painting today but now I will have to wait for another shipment as I live in a rural area and can't just go out and buy one.
