My students & I have successfully used for years.
from Tiverton, RI
As a professional artists and an art teacher for 42 years at a middle school, I have used floorcloth canvas by the yard and pre-cut. The double primed on the front & single primed on the back has worked the best for my students and me. The pre-cut holds its shape the best without wrinkles and can be successfully hemmed (folded & glued) by my 6th graders. I tried a number of different brands but find the Fredrix brand most successful. We have painted, printed and stenciled on the canvas. The pre-cut size is good for placement at doors and in front of sinks, stoves and beds. I have worked with adult students making larger floorclothes with mixed results. Some floorclothes wrinkle even with additional layers of gesso, Fredrix brand included. If there is a solution to this problem, I would like to know. All of our canvases have been painted with Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics and finished with 2 plus layers of Liquitex Acrylic Gloss Medium. We have cleaned dirt from a floorcloth using SOS pads and a wet cloth containing dish soap. All have survived cleaning without having to be repainted but I have added an additional coat of gloss medium. When used in front of an outside door, they have stood up to the wear throughout the seasons.

I have used this many times
from Okemos, michigan
I paint lots of different sized floor cloths. It is nice that this product is primed and ready to paint. Saves a lot of time. The only drawback is if you paint a large floor cloth it doesnt lay flat. I have not figured out how to fix this problem yet.

Blick is one of the only places were I can get large pieces of treated canvas for floorcloths. The canvas is also nicely edged and ready to go. This canvas is more pliable than other canvases I have used as well, it lays down easily and is easy to manipulate.
Just what I ordered, but better
Bought to cut into smaller floorcloths myself. Product arrived very quickly, in great shape. Was pleasantly surprised to find it as expected width wise, but nearly 1 foot longer width wise!
product is good

The floor cloth canvas seems pretty good and lies flat after being weighted down with books. Be informed however, that the edges are not hemmed, so it will be interesting to see how it holds up to wear.

I use this for multiple projects, from painted floor cloths to painted table runners. With several coats of varnish it will last for years even as a well traveled floor cloth.

EXCELLENT QUALITY, EASY TO WORK WITH

This arrived carefully packed and shipped promptly.I was very happy with the heavy weight and consistent surface of this product. Also, after laying it out and taping the edges down initially, it flattened out nicely on its own after a couple of days.I make my floor cloth by drawing the design on and then putting a coat of shellac over it which softens the lines and also protects the next layers from any bleedthrough. Next the design is painted in oils thinned with a little medium, and afterward allowed to dry for at least a week to ten days. After it is thoroughly dry I apply up to 4 coats of varathane over it and let it cure a couple days before walking on it. It can either be hemmed or just left trimmed.May I note that the first ever floor cloth I made was prepared by me completely and what a hassle that was. Since this great product is gessoed twice on one side and once on the back it makes an incredibly flat and sturdy base. I am intending to do some regular paintings on this same product as I can tape it directly to a board rather than stretch it, which will allow for more storage of my paintings until I want to frame them.
Floor Cloth Canvas

This heavy weight canvas is ideal for floor cloths, or any project where you want a thick, durable surface. We had a class for first-time painters and they were amazed at the ease of painting on this double gessoed finish. A great canvas for beginners and experts alike!
It is great for making floorcloths and pet mats.
