Loving the canvas

There is a learning curve but the effect and Cole vibrancy are worth the time spent experimenting
Great for loose work, not portraiture
from Newport News, VA
I used watercolors to paint wine (liquid) poured into wine glasses, and this product worked well for that. However, I am working on a couple of portraits and am ready to tear my hair out. The paint is never permanent, and hard lines are lifted and moved all over the place with a wet brush. Also, pet hair and dust in the air gravitate to the canvas like magnets. It is nothing like either watercolor paper or regular canvas. Be sure your studio is pristine, and only create loose work on these. I will try to spray fixative on some sample work to see if I can get that to adhere better.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love the treated canvases for watercolors! Prompt service, too! Item arrived even sooner than expected!
Super smooth texture!
from Ripley, Ny
I use this product for paintings that require a sharp line and exact placement...really, there is so little texture to deal with is makes creating so much easier!
I have done a water colour and now want to seal it. It is a stretched canvas and I want to leave it that way. How do I seal it or do I need to have it framed behind glass.

Good and bad traits
Really happy there is a stretched watercolor canvas- using mostly for acrylics. The problem is half of them are loose and have wrinkles, have to be sprayed on the back to tighten. Not sure if they will stay tight.
I love these watercolor canvases!

The surface is very smooth and handles watercolor well. I also use them for Zentangle designs and the work very well with the micron pens. Overall I would recommend these canvases anytime you need a smooth surface.
Not Just for Watercolor
from Palm Beach, FL
I bought this item in bulk which makes the price a fantastic deal but even if I hadn't this product is well worth the individual price. I used acrylic paint and the fine texture accepts it so easily. Beautifully constructed, these canvases are a dream to paint.

Fun, But Not As Good As Paper
from Mobile Al
I tried this canvas out as a test product and approached it from a traditional watercolor painting point of view, meaning I compared it to paper. As soon as I put the watercolor paint on I realized this was no paper, it resisted to liquid, and behaved more like Yupo. I altered my brushes, amount of water, amount of pigment, and it was a total mess in relation to behaving like traditional watercolors. My thoughts were, if beginners bought this they would be frustrated. What this paper did do brilliantly was offer lifting and texture options for the watermedia artist. Fluid acrylics and watercolors mixed were brilliant. It scrubbed well, the smoothness was interesting, and I kept thinking this would be the perfect canvas for mixed media....not simply watercolor. One odd thing, the watercolor paint took hours to dry unlike using paper. In fact the paint was tacky, so I pretty much realize it will have to be sealed with a watercolor varnish. Based on the cost, I wouldn't purchase this again, I would opt for paper or traditional canvas.
