I use these brushes with my kids to paint VERY large unstretched canvas and was looking forward to having a new set. They disintegrated after the first use so I went back to the remnants of the old ones. I usually love everything I get from Blick so this was disappointing. The plastic piece ripped right through the foam brush after the first use.

I've been using a lot of foam brushes to varnish about a dozen paintings for an upcoming show... on average, I will need 2-3 of these foam brushes for a 3x4 painting (they start to disintegrate). When I ran out I went to several local hardware stores to pick up extras, and they are terrible - I'm using about 4-5+ foam brushes for one painting with other local brands.

I use foam brushes for a variety of art techniques, especially those using mediums that I don't want to wash out. However I also use them with painting and will wash them out repeatedly until they are unusable.

This set of brushes isn't good for any of that. The foam is VERY thin and flimsy, the wood underneath is prominent. They aren't good for even one use, no less multiple uses. Frankly they aren't good for anything. I tend to focus on positives, but I can't think of any here. There are foam brushes that hold up to use. Please get those!

Unfortunately they didn't work for me either. They could barely be used for one project and kept falling off the wooden handle. VERY disappointing!

I used to use these for kids applying gesso and acrylic paint to medium sized woodworking projects which they seem appropriate for.

Perhaps the supplier has changed since my last purchase, but of the last assorted box of these I got, about half of the sponge parts came clear off the handles during the first or second use. Also, miniscule pieces of foam constantly broke off and mixed with the paint. Not very useful that way.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
