Crafted in small batches at slow speeds in a European paper mill, Fluid watercolor papers possess the strength and working integrity of more expensive mouldmade papers.
Glued on the two long edges, the Fluid Easy-Block allows artists to paint right on the block without wetting or stretching the paper. The paper is easily separated by sliding a dull knife or letter opener in the open side under the top sheet when the painting is complete.
Fluid Easy-Blocks contain 15 acid-free, cold or hot press sheets.
140 lb (300 gsm).

Perfect small size block
from Conshohocken pa
Comments about Fluid Easy-Block Watercolor Paper Blocks:
Love the fact that they offer a 4" x 6" block. I think it is the only brand that does. Well glued, easy to remove and take watercolor and ink well.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm a watercolor artist who works at Blick Art Materials, and it's safe to say that I've tried MANY different brands of watercolor paper. I have forever loved Arches hot-pressed watercolor blocks the best for it's paper quality. Arches (the company) has recently hiked up their prices and it has become sort of unaffordable to buy in bulk. Recently I've set out to find a comparable paper with a good quality, similar sizes, and a brighter white. After a little while of searching, I've decided Fluid watercolor papers are definitely my new favorite!I work in very small sizes like 6x8 and 7x10, so I was able to find similar sizes in their watercolor blocks. I've been using their 6x8 and 9x12 (that being said, I kind of wish they did make a 7x10, but it's not a big deal). Their blocks aren't like an arches block where it's sealed on all four sides, but I kind of LOVE that it's only tape bound on two sides. It makes it easier to pull sheets off, and the tape is clear, so there's no annoying/ugly black around the edges. Also, I don't paint while my paper is still attached to the block, I always rip it off and work on my table.THE PAPER IS A BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT WHITE, and not a weird off white like Arches. That was one thing I was beginning to be upset about with Arches, because when you scan a piece in, it's always darker than I'd prefer.I wish that they gave us a 300 lb option with their blocks, but I've been finding the 140 lb to be fine. After finishing my watercolor piece I am able to flatten my paper perfectly by simply turning my paper over, wetting the back, and leaving a heavy book on it over night or for a few hours. The final result has always been wonderful. As for the papers archival quality, I find it to be comparable to Arches. Although, I have been using Arches for two years and Fluid for only a couple of months, so I'll keep you updated :)Overall I'm incredibly pleased and it's most definitely worth trying! Especially since they're so affordable!
I like the 8x8 square. the 6 x 12 block I haven't used yet,
The 140 lb cold press FLUID watercolr paper blocks have a nice tooth, and take paint well. Much better than most watercolor blocks. I also like the Arches blocks, but I can't find the 8x8 size any more so I took a chance on this and am now on my third one. I'm glad to have a quality alternative.
Nice paper but...

They are not really "blocks" as they are not sealed on all four sides. Water seepage and bubbling happens very quickly using this "block." Can be useful for test watercolor, but not for works that will be sold or printed.

I have been using this watercolor paper almost exclusively for a number of years and find it to be perfect for experimental mixed media pieces. I also like it better than more expensive brands for my watercolors. I particularly like the 8 x 8 square blocks for quick studies and spontaneous small abstracts.

Good Practice Blocks
I like Fluid watercolor blocks. They are really good for drawing with graphite, charcoal, and permanent pigment ink which is what I use on it. I can add light to medium washes of watercolor with no problem.I mainly paint in watercolor and some acrylic. I use these blocks mostly for drawing mixed with media, watercolor practice or art journaling mainly because this isn't 100% cotton rag paper, which is what I use if I'm working on a piece that I want to show or sell. These blocks are still great for students and practice. I have several pieces that ended up turning into "keepers" that I thought were just simple practice pieces.I do wish they would at least glue down part of the sides to reduce buckling when I'm working with watercolor and not just moderate washes. Though I do understand that not glueing all 4 sides down keeps the cost down.. I also find the color format a little confusing. Know most people when they think of Hot or Cold Press paper, they're going to reach for the Green block thinking it's Cold Press and the Red/Orange block as Hot Press. Since I look at what I'm buying I usually catch myself grabbing the wrong block. I just find it odd that they would choose to color their respective block styles like that.

Try paper blocks
from Olympia, WA
I draw mandalas. I use drawing and painting to stay centered and balanced. Although process out weighs product I do sell many of my paints. Fluid block style watercolor paper is durable enough to draw and paint on the top piece without removing it from the block. When complete I can simply tear off the sheet and start again. I can count on each page being perfectly flat and clean, a real advantage when doing multiple pieces. Fluid paper stands up to heavy use without the paper breaking down. A great price and reliable paper for personal and professional use.

Love this stuff!
from Elgin, IL
I especially appreciate the 6"X 18" pad. It's an odd format, but it's exactly what I wanted. It saves me the trouble of splitting the paper. The only thing that would make this better is if they glued the short sides as well. The paper always buckles in the same three places, and sometimes that makes the water pool there while it's drying.

I mostly use this paper for figure drawing or painting cityscapes, or anything that requires mixed media. The 140lb. paper holds up without buckling. I've done a mix of ink, watercolor, acrylic even a little spray paint without curling. It's not invincible, but if you know what you are doing this paper is great. One downside is the glue on the side gets under the paper on the first and last page which tears the corner or a layer off the back of the paper. It's not that big a deal but I have noticed this with the larger size blocks. I bought this the first time because of the price and it turned out better than I thought.
