Love this Product!

Comments about Fabriano Studio Watercolor Pads:
I bought this pad because I needed an affordably priced option for a summer camp with 40 students ages 3-11. In the past I've bought the BLICK student grade watercolor paper that comes in bundles, but I always had to hand cut the paper to a smaller size. This Fabriano pad was the perfect size for young kids and the quality was great for the price. Paper only buckled slightly (would not buckle at all if I had taped the edges). Could handle a lot of water (when painting with 4 year olds, it's typical for them to over-saturate). Dried flat. Also easy to cut into shapes that the children could then paint and collage onto another paper once dry.

I use both this studio hot press and the cold press to do value & color studies and quick test paintings before doing a full painting on artist grade watercolor paper. The hot press is great for drawing too. Love the 75 sheet pads. Terrific value.

Like these pads

I'm a novice pen and ink artist and this is one of my first ventures into better quality papers. So far I've tried the cold press and I like it very much. Good price for starting out.

I am using watercolor, gouache and acrylic paints and permanent inks on this hot press light "cardboard" paper for creating paper jumping jacks with articulated limbs, as well as for paintings. It's working very well.

Seek something else if you truly want to learn watercolor
This paper can only handle limited amounts of water. VERY limited. If your intention is to do small doodles (or fairly dry painting) in watercolor, you'll probably be fine to use this. Even ink or watercolor pencils would probably do ok, too. But if you are serious about learning watercolor (paints), I can't recommend this paper. This paper doesn't like water and its very inconsistent between different pads I've purchased. One was very prone to pill and soak right through the paper (it wasn't even a wash). Forget about large washes or having time to work a area. The paper dries too fast to give you time to "drop color". And forget about using both sides of the sheet, like I can with other papers. With watercolor, your paper can really limit what you can pull off by going "too cheap". If you really need something cheap, I think Strathmore 400 is a bit better. But to really use watercolor to their full potential, you should really be using 100% cotton paper. A good economical choice is Langston Prestige. Or purchase large sheets of Arches and cut them down yourself. You will see a nice cost savings that way while still unlocking the full potential of watercolor.

Good for practice exercises
By Mike P.
from Beaverton, OR
I bought this pad to try for warm up exercises and it suits me well. My pad came separated from the backing which was bit annoying, but I tear off the sheets and tape or staple them to small gatorboard for use. The paper works well for practice as it is real watercolor paper.
I love Fabriano!

I had searches near and far for the right paper; I mean... EVERYWHERE. And Fabriano (hot press) is the ONLY high quality watercolor paper pad that works well with a quill. I do a lot of very (almost obsessive) detailed ink drawings and this is the only paper that doesn't catch the nib, tear the paper or let it bleed, (even the smoothest arches gets fuzzy when applying ink). This paper is also a great choice for watercolor pencil/colored pencils! I will buy again and again! Excellent price for the quality, especially when it's on sale (ha)!

This watercolor paper is a bit thinner than what I'm use to, but very nice. Great for students and the price is really nice, too. They don't make this in an 11x14, except in their 50 sheet pads (which is a fantastic price). It's water friendly and absorbs quickly. I would purchase again. I purchased 8 of the 9x12 pads and one of the 50 sheet 11x14.They arrived in perfect condition and received them within just a few days...less than a week. I appreciated that. I would recommend it especially for students...beginners.
