Comments about Fabriano Artistico Traditional White Watercolor Block:
I usually use Arches block but decided to try something different and purchase the Fabriano Artistico block in a 12x15 hot press. The glue has separated at the top after only 5 paintings which caused some leaking under the edge. I did some simple washes, but nothing wet enough where the block should have separated. I don't know if the block was just old or what, but now I feel like the advantage of the block format is no longer there and I will have to use tape to reseal the edge. The paper warps and buckles easily and I have to place my paintings under heavy pressure to straighten them out.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We apologize for the issues you've experienced with the binding on this block, and we'd like to help you with this. Please look for an email from one of our Customer Care Agents who will be following up to assist you.

This is my first experience with really high-quality paper, and it is wonderful! I can't compare it to other quality papers, but I can say that I use it for acrylics, and I also apply pastel ground to it (sometimes with an acrylic underpainting) for pastel paintings. It holds up well to these media (I tape it to my drawing board before wetting). Lovely!
The best paper I have ever used, this is it from now on!!!!

I have used it so far with colored pencil, and with the mineral spirit blending method no other paper has been so smooth and had such a great look and ease of application to achieve it!! I have tried many other papers of less price but this paper is definitely worth the price. You get what you pay for!!

best paper in the world
from Bellingham, WA
I recommend this hot press water colour paper over Arches because the fibers do not break when the paper is folded. I use this paper to make blank journals, a la Teesha Moore. When creased, the paper makes a clean fold that opens and closes many times without breaking down fibers or tearing.
I have used this paper with many mixed media: acrylics, ink and wash, graphite, charcoal, and Conte. It all looks good on this paper. I recommend it for anyone. I'm still learning how to properly stretch the paper so it doesn't get wrinkles. If you do get wrinkles, they mostly lay flat after the paper dries.
Love this paper

As a professional watercolorist, I love using Fabriano paper for my work. As someone who is also conscious of my materials, I am happy to have a paper that is of such great quality and that is vegetable-sized as opposed to animal-sized.

Most watercolor artists use Arches. I prefer the cottony texture of Fabriano. The results are fabulous.

I purchased this paper for a workshop. We made a single journal out of one sheet of paper. The weight and feel is really nice. I have been able to use many types of medium on this paper with great results. When I make another journal, and I will, it will definitely be on this paper.
The Fabriano Paper Mill was founded in 1264 and has been credited with many inventions and advancements in the field of paper making. Today, artists can choose from a wide variety of 100% cotton, archival watercolor papers in many different formats and surfaces.
