Comments about Fabriano Artistico Traditional White Watercolor Block:
I don't know why other reviewers give this so many stars, the 9x12 watercolor block I purchased is very poorly made, maybe I got a defective one. As I paint on the paper it starts to curl up and detaches from the rest of the block. It should stay down until I take a knife and detach it. Also, Fabriano should put a marking to show where to insert the blade to detach the paper.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

i have always loved fabriano paper
My favorite water color paper
By Sarah from the north
I use water color paint and sometimes pencil or inks. I can be very controlled when I need to but the paper allows the watercolor to do it's our beautiful thing and is tough enough that I can lift it off if I don't like it.

Paper is tough almost like cloth the way it absorbs paint. Color lifts are pretty easy.
Beautiful surface for waterxolors or colored pencils
First Blick has the best price on Fabriano Watercolor Cold Press and Hot Press blocks. I bought the Blick to be able to avoid stretching while I am just starting out. I really like how the hot Press accepts colored pencil and it's a beautiful smooth paper for watercolors. I am happy.
One of the Best Papers Ever!

Really great all around paper! I use the smooth hot press extra white in 140 or 300lb. I primarily use it for colored pencil using mineral spirits, and it's never let me down. I have also used it for airbrush, Inktense, watercolor pencils and am going to be trying water soluble graphite on it next. It is an expensive paper, but considering the hours I spend on a single piece, it's completely worth it, and an excellent value for me. It handles liquids, pencils and various erasers beautifully. My favorite.

Worth the price

Got this for a group project with water color and calligraphy. The surface is so smooth and yet very absorbant. We used it for water colour wash and it was lovely. I loved the deckled edge and the thickness was such that i could fold the large sheet and tear it to smaller sizes, that made this project economical and everyone felt as though they had something really special.
A versatile paper at a good price
I like the whiteness of this paper. I often combine watercolor, acrylic and pastel and I use gesso for for correction. It almost disappears on the white paper.
The Fabriano Paper Mill was founded in 1264 and has been credited with many inventions and advancements in the field of paper making. Today, artists can choose from a wide variety of 100% cotton, archival watercolor papers in many different formats and surfaces.
