I bought this 140 lb. block in rough to work on smaller watercolors instead of using the much heavier Arches papers that I work with unstretched. Despite being bound in a block, the paper got big waves in it when a larger portion was wet, resulting in pooling pigment. When the painting dried, the colors looked dull and chalky. After using two sheets of the paper, the rest of the block separated from the cardboard backing. I will not be buying this paper again.

I tried this paper out because of it's price but it really delivered for what I needed as a watercolor paper. Holds graphite, gouache and watercolor well and has a decent tooth on the surface.

I've worked with watercolor for over 30 years, and this paper is my favorite. I've tried many papers; Arches is also a good choice. The difference in the two is that Arches withstands more abuse with scrubbing. (I'm not sure what the reviewers here had trouble with - torn paper, etc. you should not have to pre-soak this paper to stretch it - just tape it to a board or use the block, and yes you can lift out quite well on F.) My paint style is to float washes together and strive for a painterly look with only a few washes (but I do lifting out when needed, or overwashes). This fresh 'watercolor' look is best achieved on Fabriano. Once I had to redo a client's portrait from Arches onto Fabriano because the Arches 'resisted' the paint too much and the coverage was not flawless like the Fabriano. The difference was striking.

It is easy to draw with color pencils. The paper has a soft attribute.

Even though the paper is sealed in a block, I experienced a lot of rippling when I wet it. I never have this problem with Arches, my usual choice. I don't understand why other reviewers did not have this problem, with the same paper. I've used Fabriano paper before without this much rippling.

This paper in 140# is a favorite for me and several other artists in the area. It is always consistent and reacts with much less buckling and curling than other brands we have tried. With a few undercoats it works like 300# cold press. If you do not need the stiffness of the heavier papers you should really give this one a try.

I have been using both Fabriano and Arches HP for years, and while I do prefer Arches, the price on Fabriano was so good I couldn't resist it. Unfortunately, when I stretched it on my Guerilla watercolorboard, the tension as it dried was too much and the paper tore!
Fortunately I have other ways to use my remaining paper, but it's back to Arches for me.

Love this paper for Zentangle pen and ink. Works beautifully with Sakura Micron pens. I usually cut the sheets smaller to fit my needs.

I do ink drawings of city and nature scenes and then color them in with watercolor. This Fabriano version of 140lb hot press paper gives you slightly more contrast while the Arches version is slightly better for a more blended look. Both are excellent choices.

This paper is clearly in a class by itself. Smooth enough for exacting colored pencil work and strong and wrinkle resistant for watercolor work. I am extremely happy with this paper.
