I ordered the extra white watercolor paper. Comparing it to watercolor paper I have that is not "extra white", the colors are the same. This product is no more white than average.

This is my 2nd review. I just wanted to give an update. I have purchased Fabriano Artistico Bright White Watercolor Blocks and sheets in cold and hot press. This is my all in one paper. I have used it with watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, watercolor pencils, oil based pencils and finally with inks and it performed beautifully. I couldn't be more pleased, love it!!!

Love the paper, not so cool on the binding. Great price but if you like the binding to stay down in your work on the watercolor block, this may not be the paper for you. The paper itself distributes pigment very nicely - good result but the binding separating is distracting to me.

I've been using Fabriano watercolor blocks for years. I heartily recommend them as the best blocks you can buy. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I've never, ever had a problem with the paper coming loose from these blocks. The paper is beautiful and easy to use. Five stars!

I have used two 9x12 blocks and one 12x18 block, all hot press. The paper is high quality, and I like the bright white color. However, all three blocks have had problems with sheets coming unglued. I use a lot of water, often soaking the paper. These blocks do not seem made for it. Sometimes the sheet I'm working on comes partly unglued, eventually the whole block begins to break from the backing board. I have been using an Arches block (10x14, almost finished it), and have not had this problem. The Arches paper is not as white, it's about halfway between the Fabriano bright white and traditional white.

If you soak the paper, you may want to consider another brand. Otherwise, I think it is a high quality watercolor block

I use Pen and Ink with watercolor pencil wash, with as much as 30 layers of color.
Both Ink and wash glide smoothly over the paper, it takes abuse, takes layer after layer of ink and color very well and seems to ask for more.
The Best paper by far I have ever used and this Hot Press 140lb WC paper's quality is outstanding.

There is nothing bad about it.

Bright white smooth watercolor paper is hard to find! I love this paper. I use it for my graphite pencil drawings as well as my watercolors. The colors look clean and scan beautifully. The price of the block is unbeatable too!
