Faber-Castell's Pitt Pastel Pencils are very suitable for lines, shading, and delicate color transitions, and also for extended areas. Use them for sketches, studies, portraits, still-lifes, and landscape drawings.
They give a smooth flow of color without being used up too rapidly. Colors are rich in pigment, allowing dense shading. They do not change on fixing or exposure to light.
Wood-cased Pitt Pastel Pencils do not dirty the fingers, and the leads are free of oils. They can easily be wiped to merge areas of colors, which means that they must then be fixed to protect the drawing.
Pencils are pre-sharpened. Individual lightfastness ratings are printed on each pencil's casing.

Faber-Castell pencils are made using environmentally safe, high-quality materials and low-pollution processes. The company uses only wood from its own reforestation and soil conservation project in Brazil to manufacture pencils.
Faber-Castell grows its own trees on land that was once denuded and deforested, subject to soil erosion. The company even recycles the waste products from manufacturing pencils to increase the fertility of the soil.

Exactly what I was looking for
By Old Draughtsman
Very opaque, and I didn't need to buy a set of colors with it. (Who would think it's so hard to find a good white chalk pencil, sold by itself?)
from New Hampshire
My first work came out great. I will recommend these to my students

Pastel details made easier
I use these to add fine lines to a pastel drawing where the edge of a soft pastel isn't thin enough.dont expect these to replace stick pastel. For what I use them for they are great and make adding detail easy to a nearly finished drawing. They are harder than your stick pastels so if there is a draw back, it is that it takes some time to learn how much pressure is needed to apply them without damaging soft papers..once they are down the lines won't be easy to remove without removing tons of softer stick pastel around the pencil pastel lines.

I like using pastels for the backgrounds and large areas but lately have been wanting more detailed work. Theses were perfect and colors were plush.so glad I decided to try them will be buying more

LOVE these for making pets
from Dallas TX
I've been doing pet portraits with these. If you're into colored pencils, these take A THIRD of the time and look just as good. I normally use Velour paper - it's really thin but the fuzzy texture gives you a furry look to your animals automatically.

A must have in my studio
I love these pencils for wildlife on velour. Can't be without them. I've tried a lot of others but cannot get the detail that I can with the Pitt Pastel's

I love using these pastel pencils. A lot of choices of color and easily applied to get the effects you want.
Pastels for Small Works
from Bend, Oregon
I use these pastel pencils for small works (5" X 5"). Right now I am completeing a series of 12 as aStudy of Values. I can use a kneaded eraser or a Mars Plastic eraser. The colors are rich and true and can be rubbed out. I also use a pen point to scratch thru the deeper applications for yet another texture.I began by purchasing skin tones for nude drawings and have begun to add to the spectrum.A qualtiy tooli plan to purchase a few of these for artist friends.
