Faber-Castell's Pitt Pastel Pencils are very suitable for lines, shading, and delicate color transitions, and also for extended areas. Use them for sketches, studies, portraits, still-lifes, and landscape drawings.
They give a smooth flow of color without being used up too rapidly. Colors are rich in pigment, allowing dense shading. They do not change on fixing or exposure to light.
Wood-cased Pitt Pastel Pencils do not dirty the fingers, and the leads are free of oils. They can easily be wiped to merge areas of colors, which means that they must then be fixed to protect the drawing.
Pencils are pre-sharpened. Individual lightfastness ratings are printed on each pencil's casing.

Pastels for Small Works
from Bend, Oregon
Comments about Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils:
I use these pastel pencils for small works (5" X 5"). Right now I am completeing a series of 12 as aStudy of Values. I can use a kneaded eraser or a Mars Plastic eraser. The colors are rich and true and can be rubbed out. I also use a pen point to scratch thru the deeper applications for yet another texture.I began by purchasing skin tones for nude drawings and have begun to add to the spectrum.A qualtiy tooli plan to purchase a few of these for artist friends.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just started using pastels and the Faber Castell Pencils are fantastic for the detail work. They don't blend as easily as the soft pastels but I was able to get around it by using a rubber tip blender. They sharpen reasonably well if you are really careful. The colors are vibrant and you can't beat the price . They are packaged to perfection and arrived very quickly. Any person interested in pastels should add these fine pencils to their art tool box.

Quality in a product!
I ordered the Faber-Castell pastel pencil set because of past experiences with this product. The quality is of the highest order and it is perfect for every conceivable detail I need in a drawing. The colors are great and come in a broad range of hues.I use them in every drawing to one degree or another. When it comes to my needs in pastel pencils, Faber-Castell is the name I choose.

I love this item, have never worked with Pastel before but have found that it mixes with other colored pencil's nicely and it smudges just the way i want it too! Love it!

In doing pastel sometimes the pencil is just what we need. I find these to blend well, easy to sharpen, and color is true.
Just what I needed
I like that I can pick what colors I use the most. Very easy to work with.
Perfect Pitt Pastels!
from West Lafayette, IN
I have been using another brand of pastel pencils for years. While visiting a Dick Blick store on vacation I picked up a couple Faber Castel Pitt Pencils. I was delighted to find that I liked working with them even more than the other brand!! So, as i use up my old pastels I am replacing them with the new brand. The Pitt pastels build up on the paper much better then the other brand.

Great set of pencils for the money. They lay down smoothly and are easy to blend. I've used them on textured and smoother paper with good results.
