Faber-Castell's Pitt Pastel Pencils are very suitable for lines, shading, and delicate color transitions, and also for extended areas. Use them for sketches, studies, portraits, still-lifes, and landscape drawings.
They give a smooth flow of color without being used up too rapidly. Colors are rich in pigment, allowing dense shading. They do not change on fixing or exposure to light.
Wood-cased Pitt Pastel Pencils do not dirty the fingers, and the leads are free of oils. They can easily be wiped to merge areas of colors, which means that they must then be fixed to protect the drawing.
Pencils are pre-sharpened. Individual lightfastness ratings are printed on each pencil's casing.

Faber-Castell grows its own trees on land that was once denuded and deforested, subject to soil erosion. The company even recycles the waste products from manufacturing pencils to increase the fertility of the soil.

Best quality for value
from Columbus, Ohio
Comments about Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils:
The Pitt pastel pencils are wonderful. They are the best value for pastel pencils - best quality at a good price. The colors are great, a very traditional artist palette. The colors are limited in some respects, so I like having the Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils to fill the gaps. The Pitt pastel pencils blend really well and sharpen easily. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Strong color. Dependable result. Soft enough for effective blending, yet strong enough to sharpenwell.
So far would recommend
None of the pencils were damaged in shipping and from my experience so far the pencils layer and blend very well. I am also very pleased with the assortment of colors.

I am forever dropping pencils and pastels are very susceptible to breakage within the core. I do no have that issue with these. They sharpen up beautifully. Great pigmented coverage, medium hardness.

Release the pastel at will!
Exactly what I was looking for
By Old Draughtsman
Very opaque, and I didn't need to buy a set of colors with it. (Who would think it's so hard to find a good white chalk pencil, sold by itself?)

Pastel details made easier
I use these to add fine lines to a pastel drawing where the edge of a soft pastel isn't thin enough.dont expect these to replace stick pastel. For what I use them for they are great and make adding detail easy to a nearly finished drawing. They are harder than your stick pastels so if there is a draw back, it is that it takes some time to learn how much pressure is needed to apply them without damaging soft papers..once they are down the lines won't be easy to remove without removing tons of softer stick pastel around the pencil pastel lines.
