I use the Cool Grey 4 Big Brush marker set for value comps in my illustrations.

The brush nibs are springy and sturdy; I haven't split one yet.
The ink is bold and definitive, but can still blend. As with all markers, work quickly.
No problem with bleeding, even on fairly light sketch paper.

Be aware that the package set starts with Cold Grey III, which is ~40%, therefore fairly dark. Supplement with a single Cold Grey I for a complete value set.

I'm an amature illustrator, I do it entirely for fun, so I always used the cheaper colored pencils over markers. That, and I hated the fact that markers had noxious smells when in use. I had been using Faber-Castell's india ink black pens for inking for years, so when I decided to finally give markers a shot, I opted for these as I love their ink pens, and already knew that they manufacture quality stuff.

I'm glad I did. The quality is great, and I love using them. I like the brush nib as it never frays and is easy to control. The colors are very rich and take on a watercolor-like look, and blend relatively well. I noticed, however, that some colors seem to blend better than others, but it may be a result of me being a novice with the medium. They layer rather well, too, which is something I do often when I color.

Also, they give off -zero- smell, meaning you don't need to worry about vetilating your work space as you use them. Bonus!

The only major complaint is that Faber-Castell did not do a good job matching the maker's color with the color on the pen itself. Most don't look anything like the shade they do on paper, and I instead decided to make a chart of all the colors and the numbering they are marked with, rather than look at the cases themselves. It works, but may annoy some people.

I purchased these pens for mixed media projects. I was looking for something that would smear when layered on top of Mod Podge. These are perfect for that when they are still wet, but don't smear at all when dry. Great combination! The colors stay true, too. I purchased the package of 24, but next time I'll go with the larger 48 package. I now want ALL the colors.

I am a mixed media artist and utilize these for shading around objects for a 'painted on' feel to my projects. These pens are by far my favorites as they stay wet enough, long enough for outlining and blending it in with my finger not not leave t 'marker line', or so to speak. These come in a wide array of colors and the price is unbeatable here at Dick Blick! Thanks guys for offering EXCELLENT prices, compared to getting ripped off at retail chains, on the supplies that I use!

I can't say enough about how wonderful Pitt brush tip pens are and these big, bold fellows are beautiful! I love the rich, clean pigment and the calligraphic strokes and easy handling. These pens are great for large, swift drawing and great for filling in larger shapes. They don't bleed and they are great to use with wet media.
