Welcome to dickblick
These unbelievably smooth gel sticks glide on paper like magic! They lay down color easily and blend just as easily to create new colors.
What’s more, because Faber-Castell Gel Sticks are watersoluble, they can be worked over with a paintbrush or spritzer to achieve beautiful watercolor effects. Just draw and color as you would with a pastel or crayon, then go back over your work with water to turn your piece into a watercolor painting.
A plastic twist-up holder makes Faber-Castell Gel Sticks easy and clean to use.
Assorted Colors, Set of 12
This set includes one each of White, Yellow, Peach, Orange, Light Green, Dark Green, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Tan, Brown, and Black, plus a free brush.

very smooth "watercolor crayon"
By Beth Crosley Art

Comments about Faber-Castell Gel Stick Sets:
Very smooth "watercolor crayon", but bulky and I'm not a fan of the plastic waste (although it's a beautiful presentation).
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not the same as GELATOS but Close
I'm ordering these today as they ate a great deal as and Faber castell offers great quality. I own and use FB GELATOS and buyers should know that they are NOT the same thing. Gelatos are formulated differently to give better lightfastness (less fading) and once dry will not smear easily. I'm purchasing these to use in arts/craft classes that I instruct. And I also plan to inform students about the difference s and will recommend using a fixative spray to prevent smearing. For artwork that you spend a long time on or that u are selling be sure to look for "archival" quality, which Gelatos offer. GELATOS also come in more colors and cost more. So for general purpose use (non-archival)gel sticks will work very satisfactorily.

These are a dream.

These are so fun to play with. It's like playing with creamy, beautiful crayons. I have to coax them away from my kid though. I haven't convinced her they're mommy's crayons. ;)
Faber-Castellated gel sticks set
By El paints in NYC
I love these sticks for their intense color and ease of grabbing choice color to instantly draw into my acrylic paintings in progress! Good alternative Nice selection of colors for me. Can be manipulated well with water for fluid effects and fun experimentation. I do wish there was a 100% magenta in the pack of 12. Also, these must be fixed intermittently or when painting is complete. Was researching product that would dry without 'fixing'This is the closest thing to oil sticks which do dry permanent) if one was working in oils.

Just what I'd been looking for...

Have seen nothing like these gel sticks. Have used watercolor: pencils, crayons, markers, pastels in my drawings but these surpass those for my needs. The richness of color and the smoothness of application make them such fun to use. Would like to see them in smaller sizes, too, and sold separately.
great product noit found in stores where I live

Oil Crayons to Watercolor
By Art Cookie
from Frisco, TX
I wanted to try this with my students to see if using a crayon type product would work for them. It is similar to using an oil pastel. Light pressure is all you need to create a watercolor, but I would rather use paint for larger coverage. This product requires 2 steps in the process. The crayons are small and encased in a plastic tube similar to a lipstick. The tip is thick and can't be used for tight detail and these won't last long under my student's use of pressure. I would recommend watercolor paint over this option.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The colored pencils and the gel sticks were sent as a gift to a soldier, and he's ecstatic with them. He's been experimenting with the gel sticks and loves using them. My husband and I have been getting gifted of your supplies by way of beautiful paintings, and now more are on the way!

Wonderful, Versatile Product
from Middle Tennessee
I use gelatos as a watercolor medium and as applied directly to my cardstock. Either way, its creamy consistency is easy to work with and colors blend well.
