Compared to other brands, they produce exceptionally clear, distinct, tight, wiry lines similar to, but more versatile than, those of mechanical pencils. Excellent Graphite Pencils

These are excellent quality graphite pencils, from the finish (nice, dark green, with clean lettering) to the core, which is strong and wears well with use. The transition between grades is very smooth and subtle and the consistency is great. I find the harder grades to be particularly good: they are reliably smooth and never scratchy and very helpful for light areas of a drawing as well as laying techniques. The wood is also very consistent, and sharpens very cleanly.

I am a student and I write my notes with this product everyday. Frankly, I will say it is definitely one of the best pencils over decades.

First, the performance of the pigment core is excellent. Being smooth on most kinds of paper while writing, and lines drew are uniform and beautiful. The wooden shell is made of very high quality. I used other pencils before. When I were sharpening a pencil, it always happened that the wooden shell generates small cracks somewhere near the core, which is certainly a flaw in supporting the core. However, it never happens to Faber Castle Castell 9000, not even once.

I highly recommend this product to those who enjoy handwriting. You will love it after using it. Try 3B or 4B first.

I am a writer. I use pencils to write drafts, to edit, and to take notes. A smooth, consistent write out is very important to me. For decades, I have found the Faber-Castell 9000 HB pencil to be the best pencil for my purposes.

When I want to do a serious graphite drawing, I always use Faber Castell pencils. I bought this batch to use in a workshop I am teaching at my church. These are the same brand of pencils my instructor told me to use when I got my art degree 30 years ago and they are still my favorite pencil!

Although most high quality pencils are close in comparison, I would have to say that these pencils are not as good as the tombow line. Tombows are the best pencils I have ever used over the course of my 30 year career as a portrait artist.
