My favorite airbrush cleaner!
from Sweet Home, OR
The 16 oz bottle is the best value, as it will make over a gallon of environmentally safe airbrush cleaner when mixed with water at a 1 to 8 ratio, as is recommended on the bottle. I use Winsor & Newton Artists' Acrylics in my airbrush, which I have thinned using an airbrush medium I make with W&N Gloss Medium, Slow Drying Medium, Flow Improver, and water. I use airbrush cleaner every time I change color as acrylic paint can dry fairly quickly.Using an eyedropper I first put some water in the cup and agitate it by squeezing the eyedropper a few times, and then spray it out. Then I put in 5 drops of airbrush cleaner and use a Liquitex Basics Round Size 1 brush to clean the inside of the bowl, and even the exposed tip of the needle, and spray it out. Then I put in some clean water and agitate it using the eyedropper and spray it out. This cleaner, and that process, get the airbrush clean every time!
Not quite as expected
One reason that i purchased this product is due to being enviromentaly safe. WHile it seems to clean my airbrushes alright, it feels, smells, and acts more like dishwashing soap. This cleaner will suds up more than any other cleaner that i have used and seems to leave a slimy feeling to your parts.Dont seem to completely clean off. After cleaning with this cleaner, i have to rinse the parts again with either clean water, or use my mixture of Windex/water (50/50 mix). I reduce this cleaner with water as instructions on the bottle. About 1 part cleaner to 7-10 parts water.Have used it in my ultra-sonic cleaner as well as trying to use it during color changes in the airbrush.I would recommend this more of a soaking cleaning solution rather than a day-to-day cleaner. I do like the fact that it is envirmentaly friendly, but the fact that it seems to leave residue after cleaning keeps me from using this as a go-to cleaner.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
