Comments about Excel Folding Utility Knife:

I appreciate the attempt to rethink the utility knife, but this design sacrifices too much comfort and safety for the sake of portability.

The knife is awkward to hold. Any standard knife is more comfortable. There's no sliding blade retractor, a useful safety feature found on standard models. Folding the knife is an awkward procedure requiring both hands, and it feels slightly dangerous since you have to watch out for your fingers. (Every pocket knife I've ever owned folds more easily than this one.)

The one clearly positive feature is that you can quickly and toolessly change blades.

Unless having a folding knife that fits in your pocket or clips to your belt is extremely important to you, I'd recommend passing on this model. For me, it takes the "utility" out of utility knife.

After 30+ years as a professional artist, this knife is the absolute BEST design hands down. The most compact (clips on belt or in your pocket), easy to change blades, has finger impressions for good grip, and securely holds the blade for cutting. I have a dozen or more knives and now only use this one. The handle is metal so no "soft" grip rubber, which is the only drawback, however that would make it bulkier. I recommend to all my students.
