Comments about Etching/Drypoint Needles and Scribes:
A good start for someone who wants to try drypoint but doesn't want to invest in a more expensive tool. I wrapped tape around the center for a better grip.

Great, basic tool - the only needles I use

DB has the best price on these needles that I have found. They are a basic tool, one that ties printmakers today to those who've been scratching images onto a plate in order to make prints since printmaking began. Because I use dura-lar plates, these needles last forever. Newbies find them immediately accessible as well.
New to drypoint.

I am new to drypoint. I feel that this tool will help me realize if it is something I wish to pursue without breaking the bank.

I'm in a printmaking class this semester and my teacher recommended buying this etching needle above others, for its durability and ease for making smooth lines. I have never used an etching needle before but I do think this one is superior, the lines it creates are smooth, light when I want them to be and easily darker and I don't have to go over anything to the point of exhaustion.

I used this for my printmaking class and it works like a charm! Its easy to use. The only thing I did not like was the fact that both ends were the same. I would of liked it if it was a different end.
Awesome Etching Needle

I use this for scratching plexi-glass for intalgio printing. It works fantastic, but for long sessions of working my hands begin to hurt. I wrapped some cloth around the middle to create some sort of cushion for my hand, now I have no complaints.

Comfortable and Easy to Handle. Smooth and very sharp. They will only dull over a period of time but not instanstly after use. Would be nice to have a soft handle for a more firm grip.

doing large drypoint printmaking my hands would be sour with the metal scribes the wood handle is better.
