These are perhaps the finest brushes available for working on ceramics, porcelain, and glass. Each brush is hand crafted in Spain, using the finest select hair and materials.
Soft squirrel hair applies smoothly and hides brush strokes. Escoda squirrel is remarkably strong and supple, ideal for applying thin layers of transparent glaze.

I bought this brush because it was made with squirrel hair, which is supposed to be the best for painting on glass, but the brush did not perform well. It was hard to manage, it clumped and flatten when I wanted it to remained pointed. It just wasn't a good purchase. Even craft brushes do better than this one and are a whole lot cheaper!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear these brushes didn't work for you. The squirrel hair is inherently fine, extremely soft, and doesn't have the resilience and shape retention of a springier hair, such as sable. Our Product Specialists would be happy to work with you to find brushes that would work better with the Pebeo paints that you ordered. Our Product Information Department is available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542 or email@example.com. We hope to hear from you soon!

This is the first time I purchased this type of brush and am very pleased with how it works with glazes. I would buy them all if they weren't so expensive. I do have some cheaper versions but they don't work as well.

Wonderful for painting glazes
I am both a watercolor painter and a potter, and I paint my stoneware and porcelain pieces with stains and oxides in addition to applying a variety of glazes. These brushes are the best I have tried, and I have tried a lot of different brushes, for detailed painting of, say iron oxide on the surface of a bisqued pot. I use the slanted round ones for highly controlled fine lines and rounded ones for other purposes not requiring a very fine, consistent line. I use the smaller sizes for detail painting and the larger ones for applying painted glazes. I would NOT use these for my watercolor painting on paper, nor do my watercolor brushes work as well on pots. My second choice for ceramics would be Chinese painting brushes as many people use, and I've tried a variety of those too, but I have better control and liquid holding capacity with these Escoda squirrel brushes. They're for painting ceramics, not paper, and they're very good for what they are designed for. After struggling with brush type after brush type, I have found what I needed in these brushes.

I use these brushes for my silk painting. They hold a lot of dye and can paint fine detail. Also I like the way they are made except for one thing, I would like each brush to be one inch longer. But that's really no big deal.
