Named after the exact location in Siberia where Escoda sources its Kolinsky-Tajmyr Sable, Reserva Series Brushes are crafted using only the tail hairs from the male Kolinsky — renowned for their springiness and capacity to retain liquids. Selection of fine materials, as well as Escoda's unique "curing" process, results in a watercolor brush that many artists consider to be perhaps the finest in the world.
Escoda's Reserva Kolinsky-Tajmyr Pointed Round (Series 1212) is unusually resilient, holds sharp points and crisp edges, and has terrific color holding capacity. Tufts are beautifully shaped of fine and evenly sized hairs, tightly packed at the ferrule edge.
Escoda's curing process results in a snappy core that gives the brush extra resilience. The short burgundy lacquered wood handle carries a triple crimped nickel-plated golden brass ferrule.
Kolinsky Sable Set
Six-piece Series 1212 set, ideal for the watercolor painter, includes round brushes in sizes 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, with a gold-plated ferrule, and the finest Kolinsky sable hair available.
Pop this clever little Escoda travel brush into a pocket or plein air box. It's ready for the road at a moment's notice! Hidden within its golden chamber resides a regular length, pure Escoda Kolinsky-Tajmyr Kolinsky Sable Pointed Round brush.

A game changing brush!
Comments about Escoda Reserva Kolinsky-Tajmyr Sable Pointed Round Series 1212 and 1214:
This brush is amazing! It holds more liquid paint than any other it's size and comes to a very fine point.I use it exclusively to paint with. I use an older sinthetic brush to rub in paint to pick up color so I don't rub the good sable into the mineral colors. It keeps the sable fibers from breaking down. This Escoda brush gives you a large range of techniques in one brush. Is worth the money!

Best Brush for Detail work ever!
from seattle washington
I use this brush for all my detail work. I have been a brush tester for an art supply company and this one is my favorite. The brush loads well, hold the paints and draws a perfect line. When I was unable to buy any I found it much harder to the fine lines I needed with other brushes. I save up and buy as many as I can afford to now. Hopefully this company will not get bought out and their amazing traditions of hand made brush making will continue.

Fit Your Hand Extremely Well & the Best
By Ann W.
from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
These brushes balance so well in your hand. Each fits my hand perfectly. All other Kolinsky Sable brushes I have tried pale in comparison based on their handles, and I own numerous other high-end competitor watercolor brushes. The STRAIGHT-handled wood competitors mount Kolinsky Sable upon are most disappointing. It seems that the Escoda Reserva Kolinsky-Tajmyr brushes are ergonomically designed along with fine craftsmanship and Kolinsky Sable mounted and held solidly in place in the ferrule, adjoining the hairs solidly onto the handle. These brushes are the very best I have ever held, and I recommend you look no further and buy the very best even if only one at a time as I did. In my opinion, Escoda nailed the best watercolor brushes ever made for a woman's hand and quite likely for a man! Thank you, Escoda!

Can be used to hold enough paint for major washes while remaining rigid enough to direct and control the dosage. The point remains tight and well-formed even when holding a heavy wash. I find the same pleasure as with the WN series seven, but at a lower price and with a little more rigidity - nice for control when trying to master working fast.

My favourite watercolour brushes
By Takin' it easy
from Canberra, Australia
I was impressed by the travel brushes I bought a year or so ago, and I have since completed the 1214 set and purchased a set of 1212 Reserva brushes as well. They are good to work with, hold a good amount of fluid and maintain an excellent point. Although they seem a little smaller than equivalent brush sizes in other brands I have used, in other respects they perform just as well as the more expensive brands.
Best Brushes you never heard of
from Wilmington, DE
For watercolor, my No. 10 brush can hold a good amount of water for juicy washes and is responsive enough for fine detail work when needed. Very resilient and snaps to a precise point every time. Craftsmanship is superb. At time of purchase, I was able to get four brushes for the price of one of a well-known brand. More than worth what I paid for.
