Escoda Primera Teijin is a maroon-colored synthetic with thicker and stiffer fibers for work with heavier bodied paints. Primera Teijin is especially recommended for heavy body acrylics and water mixable oils, because the synthetic fibers will not absorb water and soften with use.
The Teijin fiber holds its shape extremely well with fantastic spring. Escoda specially cures each brush for increased resiliency and versatility, making it a pleasure to use. Although not as firm as most synthetic bristle, Teijin fibers are much stiffer than Escoda Tadami or synthetic sable.
The long black lacquered handle offers plenty of control on canvas and is secured to the nickel ferrule with Escoda's exclusive triple crimping process.
Escoda is unusual for offering most sizes of the Primera Teijin line in both a long- and short-handle format. The long-handle style is for easel style painting, while the short handle style is best for horizontal work, such as on a tabletop. Many artists use a combination of both long- and short-handle brushes, especially for acrylic media.

Holds It's Point
By Painter Lady

Comments about Escoda Primera Teijin Synthetic Round:
I've used this brush in a size 1 for drawing on canvas with very thick Bombay India Ink and it holds it's point and firmness very well--even better than a fine sable brush. I'm going to use it for fine detail with oils on canvas, and I fully expect it to perform the same: perfect for fine details and drawing fine lines.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I used this brush in an oil portrait for detail work. Great brush. What I like about it is it holds its shape. Will order more!
The only brushes I use to paint with
I use these with my water-soluble oil paints and they hold up really well. I don't like a real thick brush because it won't hold a sharp edge like these do. I wash them with warm water and Old Masters Brush cleaner only. I learned the hard way that dish soap destroys the bristles on a brush.
Tried them all....
I have tried all the Escoda. The 1950 Teijin really hold up. I used them with acrylics and water soluble oils.

Use with Heavy Acrylics
from Harrington Park NJ
The Escoda Primera is a wonderful find for my acrylic painting needs - I have been searching for a brush that would hold its point over time of use and cleaning. My style is photorealist wildlife art and the paint holding is very good for such a refined shape. One can lay down a very clean line of paint. The snap of the brush is excellent not as stiff as bristle, or even synthetic mongoose, yet stiffer than white taklon...a great balance. The filaments clean very well with water or brush cleaners for tougher needs. These brushes are now my main stay for the majority of my work along with a softer filament brush collection (currently Loew-Cornell, La Corneille) to round things out. I highly recommend these brushes as an excellent price and performance option in a quality brush

These brushes are amazingly springy and hold their shape well.
A Great Brush, Although Small
from Potsdam, NY
I purchased a Filbert of this brush series, and it has been a wonderful tool to work with. It applies paint evenly, and stands up to heavy use. I can paint thick or apply thin glazes without noticeable difficulty due to stiffness/spring.The tapered tip is great for precise lines/edges. The one thing I didn't expect with this was the size difference compared to most other brands. I think mine's a size 14, but compared to other brushes, it's a little under an 8.
