Perla Toray White is perhaps the finest quality soft synthetic fiber available for artists. It keeps an excellent edge for a soft, yet controlled application.
Escoda cures each brush to increase the spring and resilience of the hair.
The long, gray-lacquered wood handle is triple crimped to the nickel-plated brass ferrule. The nylon filaments vary in diameter to allow for a more natural point and appearance.
Long and Short Handles — Long handles are recommended for easel style painting, while short handles are recommended for table-top painting where the artwork lies flat, especially with water media.

One of my new favorites
Comments about Escoda Perla Toray White Synthetic Round:
I am on a quest to find my favorite synthetic watercolor brushes- so I waited for blick to have a sale and I bought one from several lines that had great reputations and reviews. I bought a size 8 round and have used it for about a week. I am very impressed with this brush. It has a very nice point and is soft but still springs back into shape effortlessly. The handle is lovely and feels nice in my hand. I kind of hate that bristles are white though because they're already tinged pink from my paint. It's not a huge problem I just keep thinking I have pigment left on the brush. I will definitely try more from this range on my next brush order.#sweepstakes

I used to use only natural hair brushes, but the Perla line is my go to brush for my watercolor work. I like the largest sizes especially. The take a lot of abuse and hold a good point. I use the rounds.
Not good for watercolor

Comments about Escoda Perla Toray White Synthetic Short Handle:
I don't like this brush for watercolor, it is very stiff and not absorbent. It tends to flick the paint, does not flow well.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that this brush isn't working out for you. Although the Toray filaments are soft and fine, they have a rapid spring, and we understand if this is not to your liking. You may be interested in Escoda's Versatil brushes, which have a gentler response more like natural sable. If you would like assistance selecting brushes, please know that we're here to help you. I have never been a round brush fan until now but got them on the recommendation of Thomas Schaller whose work I greatly admire. I like cat's tongue brushes and still do, but my Perla round brushes are jockying for top spot in my affections. They do everything from washes (using the side) to fine lines (using the point.) I like them better than a rigger because I have more control. I strongly recommend these.

I bought other brushes for watercolor work but I really like this brush , it is soft and a pleasure to use
Surprised at the low cost at Dick Blick considering the high quality of these brushes.
Only brush I ever want to use
I use to rely a lot more on my sketches before using these brushes. They feel like you can draw with them when you want to but also get great brush strokes from it that a squirrel or soft synthetic cant. I use them for gouache and watercolour. Soon as I bought a 12 round and used it I reordered a collection of them.
two thumbs up
I tried the 12 round out with gouache and I regret not buying a stack of these brushes. The water release rate, control and feel of the brush is excellent. If you're reading this to decide to buy them or not you don't know what you're missing out on. I want to throw out all my other brushes and replace them with escodas
