Looking for something a little out of the ordinary? The Modernista Tadami brush from Escoda is one of the finest crafted brushes we've seen. The synthetic filament is designed to simulate the feel of mongoose hair, a favorite of painters for centuries.
The brush head is stiffer than most synthetics, but it holds a remarkable point and isn't as stiff as a bristle brush. It's perfect for oil and acrylic in most any consistency.
Escoda's curing process creates a brush head that consistently snaps back to its original shape. The gray-black lacquered wood handle is triple crimped to the nickel-plated brass ferrule.
Brush sizes — The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size may vary by manufacturer as brush sizes are not standardized. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from within a single brush line.
Long and Short Handles — Long handles are recommended for easel style painting, while short handles are recommended for table-top painting where the artwork lies flat, especially with water media.

The perfect brush!

Comments about Escoda Modernista Tadami Synthetic Mongoose Long Handle:
These brushes have been a game changer for me. They are made incredibly well and from top quality materials. You will recognize their superiority to other brushes immediately. Even after months of use they hold their shape. Escoda brushes in general are a joy to use. After experiencing problems with other brands, I am slowly making the switch to all Escoda brushes in my arsenal.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

So easy to work with and clean. Excellent qualities. Not quite as stiff as the Primera Teijin. The rounds are great for detail and the filberts good for coverage plus detail.

I use them with fluid acrylics. They hold paint well and the angle brushes are great for the geometric work I do. Only complaint it that they loose their sharpness after about 3 weeks of heavy use (4-6 hours a day). Still usable but not in tight corners.
Oil Painting Perfection!
from Plymouth, MA
I received the #14 Modernista Filbert this morning and I painted with it all day. It's the perfect brush for oil painting - not as stiff as a hog bristle but not soft like a sable. I paint big and I was really laying the paint on. There is nothing about this brush that feels even remotely synthetic. It looks and works exactly like animal hair. I bought the Escoda brush soap too (it's nice) and the brush cleaned up well. I don't use any solvents (just pure safflower oil to clean and wipe my brushes) so I can't speak for how it would hold up to solvents. I reshaped the brush after cleaning and it looks great. The only thing to note is the sizing. The #14 Filbert is not a great big brush as you'd expect. It's about the size of a #6 Utrecht hog bristle. There are 'centimeter' size charts next to each brush so you can get an idea as to how small the sizing runs. This brush is sublime.

A new favorite. Goodbye W&N Monarch brushes!
By Artist Lydia Makepeace
from Naples, FL
I LOVE my new filbert and plan to order a whole range of Escoda Modernista brushes as soon as funds allow. This brush is beautiful! I like to start oil paintings with a good bristle brush and finish with a softer mongoose like brush. The Escoda Modernista brushes work well for those advanced layers. What makes this brush so fantastic:- well weighted- solid feel- lovely grey green finish - snaps back and holds its edge- works well for fine details and smooth glazes- cleans up easilyYes, these brushes are pricey, but after fighting with several Winsor and Newton Monarch brushes, which failed to hold a point and developed split ends, I was ready to shell out some money for a brush that didn't make me want to snap it in two and throw it out a window. Whether it's watercolor or oil Escoda makes exceptional brushes. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.
