Looking for something a little out of the ordinary? The Modernista Tadami brush from Escoda is one of the finest crafted brushes we've seen. The synthetic filament is designed to simulate the feel of mongoose hair, a favorite of painters for centuries.
The brush head is stiffer than most synthetics, but it holds a remarkable point and isn't as stiff as a bristle brush. It's perfect for oil and acrylic in most any consistency.
Escoda's curing process creates a brush head that consistently snaps back to its original shape. The gray-black lacquered wood handle is triple crimped to the nickel-plated brass ferrule.
Long and Short Handles — Long handles are recommended for easel style painting, while short handles are recommended for table-top painting where the artwork lies flat, especially with water media.

Oil Painting Perfection!
from Plymouth, MA
Comments about Escoda Modernista Tadami Synthetic Mongoose Long Handle:
I received the #14 Modernista Filbert this morning and I painted with it all day. It's the perfect brush for oil painting - not as stiff as a hog bristle but not soft like a sable. I paint big and I was really laying the paint on. There is nothing about this brush that feels even remotely synthetic. It looks and works exactly like animal hair. I bought the Escoda brush soap too (it's nice) and the brush cleaned up well. I don't use any solvents (just pure safflower oil to clean and wipe my brushes) so I can't speak for how it would hold up to solvents. I reshaped the brush after cleaning and it looks great. The only thing to note is the sizing. The #14 Filbert is not a great big brush as you'd expect. It's about the size of a #6 Utrecht hog bristle. There are 'centimeter' size charts next to each brush so you can get an idea as to how small the sizing runs. This brush is sublime.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A new favorite. Goodbye W&N Monarch brushes!

Comments about Escoda Modernista Tadami Synthetic Mongoose Filbert Long Handle Series 4060:
I LOVE my new filbert and plan to order a whole range of Escoda Modernista brushes as soon as funds allow. This brush is beautiful! I like to start oil paintings with a good bristle brush and finish with a softer mongoose like brush. The Escoda Modernista brushes work well for those advanced layers. What makes this brush so fantastic:- well weighted- solid feel- lovely grey green finish - snaps back and holds its edge- works well for fine details and smooth glazes- cleans up easilyYes, these brushes are pricey, but after fighting with several Winsor and Newton Monarch brushes, which failed to hold a point and developed split ends, I was ready to shell out some money for a brush that didn't make me want to snap it in two and throw it out a window. Whether it's watercolor or oil Escoda makes exceptional brushes. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.

These brushes perform as well as could be possibly expected, they hold paint extremely well and they hold a point just as well. I plan on ordering more in the future.

This brush is great for oil painting and provides nice control for fine details..
Brush of choice
One of my favorite brand of brushes. Affordable. They respond well and hold their shape. After trying one I found it to have the precise control that I was looking for and bought a whole range of these so that now this brand along with Blicks's Master Stroke Synthetic series are almost the only brushes I use.

Great quality, when used with medium it is smooth, leaving no brush stroke showing. I am using as a drawing tool and it creates a sharp line that is maintained, edges nice and sharp!
Excellent for Oils

Crisp edges and springier than most.

I am a plein air artist. In the field I need control, as the elements toy with me. These brushes give me that. I especially like the round brushes. I have spent what seems like a lot of money for size 18 and 22 brushes, but they wear well, keep a lovely point, and have a great resiliency.
