I'd have no problem saying this brush is well constructed and feels well balanced in the hand but it does not feel or perform like real mongoose--which of course it isn't but claims to be like. I'm sure there is a place for this brush, perhaps they're better with acrylics, but for me it appears synthetic and oils just don't mix.

These brushes are a pleasure to paint with because they hold their shape and don't lose their bristles. They have good spring in them and are not limp when loaded with paint.

I've tried nearly every artist brush in Blick's extensive line as well as other retailers. This brush is similar to the W & N Artist acrylic brush (Black & white handle) but holds it's shape a lot better with a full load of color. I am very impressed with the performance so far though I've only purchased the # 8 bright & # 10 filbert. I use it for acrylic and gouache on paper and canvas. It is great to finally find a brush with the perfect combination of stiffness and softness to blend gouache layers on acrylic.
Next to the Escoda Tekady (which is a much stiffer brush I use for scrub blending), I can see this becoming one of my most used tools.

I've been using these brushes for about three years, and they never lose their shape or shed bristles. They're flexible, but have plenty of body to hold lots of paint. I use them from the middle to the end of an oil painting, to give me great precision and control. I have trouble with bristle brushes scraping off more paint than they apply sometimes, but these seem to glide over the surface of the painting, allowing me to apply thick paint where I want it. I also love the unique shape of the filberts, which lets you carve out just about any shape you need.

I take really good care of them, and they look like they're brand new. My husband has a set that almost never gets washed, and they're holding up remarkably well too. I have yet to find a bristle brush, at any price, that doesn't turn into a dandelion with the first use. As an oil painter, I gather I'm supposed to prefer bristle brushes, but these are the perfect brushes for me.

These brushes are excellent for use with water mixable oils. They are firm enough to push paint around yet retain their shape with extended use in water. This is an excellent intermediary brush between the strength of a hogs hair bristle and the softness of a Kolinsky Sabel. Because of it's superior craftsmanship, the brush head does not shed bristles with use. The handles are tough and well balanced.
