I have had fine experiences with these brushes. They hold their shape well enough and hold a lot of paint, as do other bristles of this quality. Don't know why so many of other's brushes failed. Make sure to never wash your natural brushes under HOT water. Warm-tepid is better for the natural bristle. Maybe (i'm guessing) this could be the cause for the bristles going hay-wire?

After from 1 to 20 uses every single brush turned into a cute little broom. My teacher had recommended these, so I bought a whole set. Some reviewers have had good experiences, so I took good care of my brushes. Unfortunately every brush in my whole set has failed, some immediately and others after a bit of use.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pretty, well balanced handles an superior ferrules but the business end is JUNK. The hairs splay out after first use and they turn into little brooms.

I just purchased 7 brushes of this make, based on my use of Escoda brushes for watercolor. I was very disappointed with my first use of this brush for acrylics. Only a few moments of using the brush produced "frayed" bristles and they have not snapped back. On looking at some of the other new brushes I see they are also looking frayed even before using them. I am not pleased with this reaction as I have other bristle brushes that behave much better. Escoda is certainly the best watercolor brush I have ever used but I can't say the same about this one for acrylics.

I have tried so many hog hair filberts and I have to tell you that painting with this Clasico filbert was like painting with silk. With proper cleaning the bristles stay very true to their shape and I am really hard on my brushes. I do have to say that I tried the short filbert and it was very disappointing in comparison. This is the best brand I have tried so far out of about half a dozen or more brands.The brush does cost more than the basic brand which I don't like...but in some cases you do get what you pay for. I don't understand the other poor reviews.

I was eager to try Escoda--well known Spanish brush maker that specializes in artists brushes. Unfortunately the Chungking bristle filberts performed poorly----splaying after one use. This is inexcusable in a hand tied hog bristle brush. It's like trying to paint with a broom.

I won't be wasting any more money on this brand.

I am always beyond satisfied when it comes to escoda brushes. The craftmanship is exceptional,as well as the life of the brushes. I also can get sizes that other brands just don't make. The bristles always stay the same shape. I paint with Golden open acrylics and these work perfectly with them.
