Ox hair is used to produce a moderately priced sable brush, one that is affordable for students and beginning artists. The fiber is soft and resilient, good for not leaving brush marks.

Although it lacks the pointing abilities of pure Kolinsky, ox hair has many characteristics of fine sable at a much lower cost. That's why many artists choose ox hair as a substitute for Kolinsky in larger sizes.

Escoda puts the same quality workmanship into each Bravo brush that it puts into its finest Kolinsky sable brushes. The long, lacquered red wood handle offers superb control. It's attached to the nickeled brass ferrule via Escoda's exclusive triple crimping process.

Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer.

These are great brushes with just the right mix of softness for detail work and body for heavy amounts of paint. The long filberts are now my favorite brushes. I pick them over just about any other brush I have. So far they are retaining their shape, but I've only just started using them a few weeks ago, but on a daily basis.

These Escoda Bravo Light Ox Brushes are easily the best all-purpose brushes I've used. They have all of the good qualities of hog and sable, with none of their detractions. The #8 round in particular offers a fine, solid point that allows for a lot of thick paint application and detailed work, which gives you many choices about how you utilize it. Buy it!

These light ox hair brushes are the best I've used. I think they are better than sable brushes and are excellent for laying on paint using the flats and brights and the filberts and rounds for detail.I use them for animals , birds, portraites and landscapes. I thoroughly recommend them.
