Welcome to dickblick
Escoda's Aquario Squirrel hair is extremely soft, more delicate than other hairs. It's so fine that a brushstroke will not leave voids or hair tracks.
The round point and short red lacquered wood handle are ideal for detail work. Squirrel hair is softer and less springy than kolinsky, so the effect you would use a squirrel brush for is quite different. Use it to create precise rounded strokes rather than for points or dots.
Escoda "cures" each brush with a unique treatment that gives each brush head remarkable resiliency.
The short red lacquered handle is attached to the nickel-plated brass ferrule via Escodas exclusive triple crimping process.

One of my favorite brushes
A really nice brush, which turns out to be one of my favorites. Really holds a load of water and paint. Soft and supple like you expect from a squirrel hair brush. Handles like a dream. Makes a fantastic point and can be used broadly for a wash as well. Very versatile.

Carries loads of water and comes to a sharp point
from New Bern NC
this brush, in a large size (I bought the 18) was recommended by my teacher, a follower of Zbukvic. It works well for their method: create a background or base color by swabbing a light wash across the (tilted) paper. The brush carries so much water, a "bead"--horizontal puddle of water--that you then pick up with the next stroke, varying the strength, and even the hue of the wash down the paper. Its size also keeps a beginner like me from adding too much detail during the subsequent stages of the painting. So it carries a lot of water/paint, allows you to be delicate in placing it, but don't expect any spring. It mashes down almost like a Chinese brush.
I bought two of these brushes and I love them! They are so soft and the squirrel hair is marvelous. I havea siz 20 and it comes to a great point also.
Only Escoda for me.

Been doing watercolor for many years and I find that all by brush choices for rounds or tapered ends are Escoda, especially their squirrel. No other brushes can hold the water or paint, or point like they do.
Feels Better than sable at times

Holds lots of water, lays down paint very smoothly and keeps a point when you need it; what else is there to say.

Like painting with a cloud.

I really like Escoda's squirrel hair Aquario brushes. Painting with these brushes is a unique experience. Soft, gentle, rounded edges. It almost feels like you are painting with a cloud, or a wand of mist.
